New generation of Learning Curve - Plastic, Plastic, Plastic,

This review is from: Learning Curve Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway - Murdoch (Toy)
Murdoch is the most plasticky of the Thomas engines we have bought. His geometry is also poor if you have the older "clickity clack" style of tracks (specifically, he bumps going up ascenders). My son loves his look and he is stylish, but the wheel arrangement (mentioned in numerous other reviews) leaves Murdoch a little stiff for cornering.
So he is a handsome engine, and a little awkward, but this engine has A LOT of plastic. The newer engines just keep getting more and more plastic parts. It seems antithetical to the "wooden railway" ethic to have so much plastic on an engine - even a really useful one.

A truly neat engine!,

We just HAD to get Murdoch after viewing the video, "New Friends for Thomas." He is just so very big in the video but he's about the same size as Gordon here in the toy version. My little one particularly appreciated the fact that he's a different color - we have a LOT of blue and green trains but Murdoch is sort of a dark butterscotch color (he's more yellow-toned than what the above photo indicates). These engines are fabulous for role playing and our Murdoch even goes to bed with out little one! He is two pieces like most of the other larger engines and pulls a ton of cars as well. Like all Imginarium toys, he's very durable, made of wood, and covered by their lifetime guarantee. Murdoch hass quickly become a favorite in our house!

Murdoch the big, strong engine,

If your child enjoys acting out the Thomas & Friends episodes, Murdoch is an engine designed to pull heavy freight. He's the largest engine on Sodor, and has a butterscotch sort of color, like Annie and Clarabelle do. Shy as he is strong, Murdoch wishes for some peace and quiet, but his friends are always full of questions.
Murdoch and Arthur are unique engines. They are the only large engines in the wooden range with 2 wheels in front and 6 wheels in back. All the other large engines have 4 wheels in front and 4 wheels in back. If you could use a heavy freight engine every time there's more milk, logs, cattle, or other various cargo to deliver, Murdoch is highly recommended!
