Book Description

September 3, 1993
This revised textbook, now co-authored by an eminent child neuropsychologist, combines a well-developed theoretical orientation with practical, remedial suggestions and includes helpful, pertinent case studies to effectively illustrate the neuropsychological principles. A new chapter on "Attention Deficit Disorder" has been added. As with the two previous editions, this one follows the tradition of providing a highly integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to learning disabilities in adults and children. From the reviews of the first edition: "William Gaddes has attempted and...accomplished a very difficult task - that of communicating the complex assortment of neuropsychological research and evidence on learning disorders so that professionals in various disciplines can make use of such information in their daily practice..." #Journal of Learning Disabilities#1

4.0 out of 5 stars how about a newer edition?, April 26, 2006
This review is from: Learning Disabilities and Brain Function: A Neuropsychological Approach (Hardcover)
The book was published in 1993 and still retains considerable information about learning disabilities, and how these are influenced by brain abnormalities. Many topics are covered. Notably Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, aphasia and dyslexia.

But perhaps the authors could be induced to come out with a more recent edition? There surely must have been considerable progress in the interim. Especially in studying the functional anatomy of the brain. Improvements in diagnostics and the ability to stimulate ever smaller regions of the brain have been significant.

This review is from: Learning Disabilities and Brain Function: A Neuropsychological Approach (Hardcover)
Brain knowledge is currently exploding as we embark on the newest technology. This book takes you to the essence and foundation of how the brain functions. It is difficult to read for the layman as myself but fascinating ... it has captivated my interest and I have been able to understand a bit more every time I read a few more pages about how complicated topics such as sensory, tactile, handedness, etc. effect learning. There is nothing lacking in this text.
