Grade 7-12 --In Allergies , Edelson covers asthma, hay fever, and specialized allergies, such as those to food and drugs. Tests and treatments are also discussed in great detail, especially the drugs used to combat allergies. Learning Disabilities describes dyslexia, dyscalculia, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder. The evaluation process, possible causes, and treatment are all discussed. Recent writings are mentioned and listed in the bibliography. Controversial subjects such as the prescribing of ritalin, the role of environment in learning disabilities, and what schools can do are all covered. There are several passages written by young adults who have conquered their learning disabilities. Both books would be useful for reports or for those suffering from allergies or a learning disability. They are not easy to read, but do offer an introduction to the subject and will be useful with other, more specific titles.
