I browsed through this book and thought, if some of my student's parents had this, it would have helped them prepare their children for school. I liked the way it encouraged the arts (art and music) as well as parents or guardians reading to their children EVERYDAY. This is extremely important to enhance reading skills as well as language development. I will be purchasing this book to enrich the students in my classroom.

I bought the first book (1 to 3 years)when my baby was about a year old. Now I have three boys, and this book has been with me all the time. It's given me a general perspective of how to interact with children and many creative and practical ideas. I like how it's organized, because it starts with activities for little babies through toddlers. It gives you many ideas to develop several areas such as language, math, music, creativity, etc., In each activity you find specific and clear instructions, the material you need (which is often very simple and what you have at home) how it helps your child to learn and how you can vary or enhance the activity. It's very easy to come back and find what you need in the specific moment. Now that my oldest boy is almost five, I'm using the second book and it has wonderful and entertaining activities to help your child to read and write, to do math, etc. Many times I've found the activities so inspiring that I create my own variations and adjustments for my children's specific needs or interests. I highly recommend this book to every mom I talk to. I think it helps us to know what to do with our children at home more than just entertain them, but to spend time in a very creative, practical and productive way.
