This is a really great book! However, there is also a package of CD and book which I do not see offered here. The CD includes LabVIEW Student Edition. The referenced .vi's (virtual instruments) are available for download but, not the complete CD. I have been unable to locate the CD individually, only in bundled packages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Learning for Labview Does NOT include demo files., April 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Learning with LabVIEW 6i (Paperback)
Good book except that you really need to purchase or have the Labview student version. The book does not ship with a CD containing the demo files it refers to so often in the text. Makes it difficult to follow without the files.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning With LabView 6i, a Teaching Revolution, January 8, 2001
By
Sean Smallman (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Learning with LabVIEW 6i (Paperback)
Learning with LabView 6i is one of the most up to date resources available for LabView programmers, both novice and experienced alike. This well written book takes the reader through the basics of learning LabView, a graphically based icon programming language used by researchers, technologists, and industrialists the world over. With a simple and understandable approach to the logic of icon based programming languages, the new user will be able to write their first LabView program within 1 hour of beginning to read this book. For the seasoned LabView veteran the book is sprinkled liberally with powerful insights and clever programming techniques which is sure to keep them on top of their field of expertise. LabView from National Instruments is rapidly becoming the premiere programming language for laboratories, industrial automation, quality assurance, and educational institutions. It offers unsurpassed ease of use with a minimal learning curve, but this does not detract from the powerful underlying programming language. The newbie will be programming within the hour of reading this book, the seasoned pro will be programming better than ever. With a clever teaching and instructional organization to the book the information contained therein flows easily and logically to the reader. The writing style is efficient and intelligent, but not cold like so many text books can be. Reading this book will inspire new LabView programming confidence and will give you the urge to write your own applications as soon possible. Learning with LabView 6i will become your reference book of the future, dog eared, worn out, but with so much value in the years to come! As an experienced LabView programmer I urge all new users to obtain a copy of this text for your own personal library; you'll always appreciate having the answers you require at your fingertips.
