Must have for comprehensive learning experience!,

This review is from: Learning the Language of Addiction Counseling (Paperback)
I teach addiction studies at a local university and find this book a great reference and hope to adopt it for one of my classes. It provides a great overview of the addiction treatment field without being too wordy or lost in theory. This is a well-written book which encourages the learner where many books are discouraging!

Upgraded Study of Addiction Therapy,
By Dr. Dom Wilks "Ph.D., LAT" (Jackson Hole, WY) - See all my reviews

Book is an excellent review of the material and information necessary to perform interventions with chemically dependent patients. Material is presented in such a way that the book can be later used as a reference guide when needing additional material for group presentations.

This book was a required text for a graduate-level addictions course. This book proved to be a good introductory text for students and can be used by addictions counselors (or other practitioners treating addicted clients/patients) as a reference text.

I read this book because another reviewer recommended it for anyone who knew someone with an addiction issue. The author writes so well and the knowledge I gained I will always be thankful for. It is the perfect primer. I hope the author will write more.

This book has been useful to me on so many levels. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a starting point to start here. The book will not overwhelm nor will it underwhelm. The writing style is easy to read and to the point. The check lists are very useful. Thank you for a well done book on such a varied topic.

I was fortunate enough to attend my graduate school program with Geri and I couldn't say enough wonderful things about her and this book. I have frequently returned to this book for reference in my current practice and would recommend this to everyone in the counseling field that wants to learn more about addiction counseling. She's a phenomenal professor and her skill in teaching runs throughout this book.

Disappointed,

It arrived on time. It said it had no underlines or highlighting. Both were wrong as it had underlining and highlighting. It was also out of date for the exam I needed to take so I had to order another.
