even the meanderings are helpful,

This is a difficult subject for people like me who make rules and demand guarantees concerning what is free and spontaneous, namely, love. I found that his personal anecdotes resonated with life as I observe it in myself. What I do not recall from the book, but what I would have appreciated, is how we become attached to not loving ourselves, and how egos, or mine at least, tremble with the prospect of fully appreciating how ineptly they run the show. But maybe that is for a more advanced stage - there is a tremendous amount of cognitive work to do at the basic level, and there have been surprising benefits for me so far. Oddly enough, I just happen to observe more that is love-able in the family and friends around me, too, as of late, and I am grateful for the improved listening skills, improved empathy and improved relationships as well.

This book really spoke to my heart and spirit. The words resonated with every fiber of my being.
I read the entire book one weekend and I have found myself going back and re-reading some of the chapters again. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to become more "self-aware"! Sally Still

The author goes on and on about his issues, I found this book very boring. I was hoping to be inspired but instead I was only inspired to throw this book in the bin. Very disappointing.

This is a favorite of mine. It's one of those that has a gem for anyone that reads it. I suggest it to all of my counseling clients.
