5.0 out of 5 stars Inflatable Globe
This is a well made product. It reminds you of a beach ball but when it arrives you find it is much thicker and more durable than most beach balls. Also, if you are the least bit worried about the print being unclear and hard to read because it's stamped on an inflatable globe, don't be. It's clear as a bell and a wonderful learning tool for little ones. My 4 year old...

We bought this blow up globe for our infant son, so we aren't too tremendously concerned about the fact that the names of countries are inaccurately printed on this globe!!! All the country names are printed approximately 1/2" above the territory. If you plan on using this globe as anything other than a earth-decorated beach ball (such as in a classroom setting or to...

My 4 year old was asking me questions that would be SO much easier to answer if I had a globe yet, I didn't want to sink a ton of money into a fancy globe. Also, he's not old enough to have interest in it EVERY day so this was the PERFECT solution.

This globe is a "blow up" globe that can be reused again and again. It easily folds up and can be carried in a pocket. It is made of tough beach ball material.
I bought it to take to a farming village in the jungle in northeast Luzon in the Philippines, and there was no way I had room for a regular globe in my luggage. This blow up globe was perfect for the long, rough trip. I used it to show the people I was visiting where I live, and where their village is, because they had never seen a map before. The globe was useful for showing where the typhoons that hit their village come from, how close the Philippines is to other countries, and whatnot.
I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the individual US states are not shown on the map of the US, so I had to draw in California with a ball point pen. Otherwise, this globe is a real handy, portable teaching tool. It also comes with a repare kit in case you pop it.

All the country names are printed approximately 1/2" above the territory. If you plan on using this globe as anything other than a earth-decorated beach ball (such as in a classroom setting or to teach your kids geography?!) this is not the globe for you. By the time our infant understands how to use a globe, we will have moved onto a bigger, better globe.

This is a quality product. Good detail. Holds air well, ready to blow up and hang from attached loop. An excellent buy.

If you only need an inflatable ball, then this would be fine. If you intend to use it to teach geography, then look elsewhere for a teaching tool. The seams on the globe are poorly aligned, causing some locations on the globe to get cut off, as well as giving the globe an awkward shape. Also, the lines of latitude do not line up well where the seams of the ball connect. I don't recommend this Learning Resources globe as a "learning resource." --Addendum to previous review: Learning Resources did contact me and sent me another inflatable globe to replace the first one. The replacement globe was better aligned at the seams than the first globe I received, but it still wasn't what I'd hoped it would be in terms of an educator's tool. I was fortunate enough to come across a real (non-inflatable) globe with a stand at a popular discount department store the other day for only a couple dollars more than I paid for this inflatable one. Our inflatable globe will be kept as a cute decoration hanging from the ceiling, but it won't be used for teaching geography.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent alternative to a standard globe, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Learning Resources 12-Inch Inflatable Globe (Toy)
I bought several of these for use at our church. They are an excellent alternative to a standard globe. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on regular globes, and we don't have a lot of room to store them. These globes can be deflated and easily stored when they're not in use. Also, if you are using them in a classroom, and you want a child to identify a country on the globe, you can simple throw it to them. Believe it or not, we didn't have any trouble with the kids getting rambunctious with it, but it did keep their interest.

I might have got the wrong item, but no, it is the Learning Resources LER 2432.
All the City names are perfect, 5 Stars. But all country names are wrong, 0 Stars. How can I use it for teaching? It looks even very different to the picture on amazon and on learning resources. The colours are different the shape is absoloutely different and the quality is not good at all, it is more an old tomato than a globe.

I was looking for inflatable globes to send to some rural schools in Africa. The school room furnishings are sparse and have few teaching aids, yet much learning is happening there. The children speak very good English.
I searched the internet for days and read all the reviews, trying to find the best globe out there. I finally ordered 1 of each style. The Learning Resources globe is the best, by far!
It is durable, colorful, inflates to an almost perfectly round shape, holds it's air, is easy to read and has a plastic loop for hanging. It comes with a hanging cord and a patch repair kit. It is a beautiful globe. I wish it came in 16 inch size.
When inflated, all the other globes are "squat' and irregular in appearance, not round. They look like a peeled tamgerine.
All of the globes have the countries marked but none of them have the states marked..I suspect, not enough room for the print.

Excellent toy! Very high quality material used for this inflatable globe. My 4 yr old learnt all the continents and countries with the help of this globe. we still use it as a reference to find some countries or even the smallest islands. Very detailed, so a beginner will need some help to locate some countries at first. But as the child grows and he learns to read and understand the globe, this ball becomes more and more useful. It is not something you would have to throw away after a while. So it's worth every single penny. I have also used this globe along with a flash light, to demonstrate how the earth rotates on it's axis and around the sun. The globe is as large as a standard inflatable beach ball. Beautyful, high quality colors and clear letters help them read and remember. The blue background makes it easy for them to remember that those are the oceans.
My son has also used this globe to kick around indoors and there have been no damages. Its been about a year (or more) since we have had this and it's still as good as new. One of the best purchases ever made!

It seems to be a nice globe on the Amazon picture but it is really bad quality.
The air globe would deflate every 5 minutes. There was a hole on it (punctured) and if you touch you can feel the material is really bad, so I decided to ask for refund instead of replacement.
It has a good size and the City/countries are correct though.
