Product Description

Learning Resources 12-Inch Inflatable Globe
Learning Resources 12-Inch Inflatable Globe

Make a game of geography by combining play and learning! Toss this 12" globe to students and have them identify continents, countries, capitals and oceans or just hang it for display. Clear labels identify major bodies of water, lines of latitude and longitude, continents, countries and cities. It can be used in a classroom full of students or at home to educate just your child.

Not just about Geography

Use the globe to study more than just the continents, countries and capitals. You can point out the striking differences between the world's land and water formations. Use the Inflatable Globe to introduce the day and night cycles and time zones, and to illustrate how the eastern and western halves of Earth experience opposite times of day. This globe also provides a great tool for discussing geographical references in literature and culture, and brings history lessons to life!

Let the global games begin!

Play "Country Toss" for an around-the-globe blitz of world wisdom! Throw the globe into the air for your children to catch; then, have them identify the name of the country under their right hand. Or, let them pick a letter, and challenge them to name a country while pointing it out for you on the globe. Next, ask them to jump and touch the hanging globe to learn about the poles and their features. So many cool game-play possibilities in just one versatile globe!

What's in the box?
  • Inflatable 12" globe
  • Repair kit
  • Activity Guide.

Customer Questions & Answers

The air globe would deflate every 5 minutes.
Mateus
In terms of build quality, it seems to be very sturdy and made with the same thickness of plastic as a typical beach ball.

Was a great way to create a hands on learning tool for kids.

This is a well made product. It reminds you of a beach ball but when it arrives you find it is much thicker and more durable than most beach balls. Also, if you are the least bit worried about the print being unclear and hard to read because it's stamped on an inflatable globe, don't be. It's clear as a bell and a wonderful learning tool for little ones. My 4 year old was asking me questions that would be SO much easier to answer if I had a globe yet, I didn't want to sink a ton of money into a fancy globe. Also, he's not old enough to have interest in it EVERY day so this was the PERFECT solution.

This globe is a "blow up" globe that can be reused again and again. It easily folds up and can be carried in a pocket. It is made of tough beach ball material.

I bought it to take to a farming village in the jungle in northeast Luzon in the Philippines, and there was no way I had room for a regular globe in my luggage. This blow up globe was perfect for the long, rough trip. I used it to show the people I was visiting where I live, and where their village is, because they had never seen a map before. The globe was useful for showing where the typhoons that hit their village come from, how close the Philippines is to other countries, and whatnot.

I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the individual US states are not shown on the map of the US, so I had to draw in California with a ball point pen. Otherwise, this globe is a real handy, portable teaching tool. It also comes with a repare kit in case you pop it.

We bought this blow up globe for our infant son, so we aren't too tremendously concerned about the fact that the names of countries are inaccurately printed on this globe!!! All the country names are printed approximately 1/2" above the territory. If you plan on using this globe as anything other than a earth-decorated beach ball (such as in a classroom setting or to teach your kids geography?!) this is not the globe for you. By the time our infant understands how to use a globe, we will have moved onto a bigger, better globe.

This is a quality product. Good detail. Holds air well, ready to blow up and hang from attached loop. An excellent buy.

I might have got the wrong item, but no, it is the Learning Resources LER 2432.
All the City names are perfect, 5 Stars. But all country names are wrong, 0 Stars. How can I use it for teaching? It looks even very different to the picture on amazon and on learning resources. The colours are different the shape is absoloutely different and the quality is not good at all, it is more an old tomato than a globe.

The surface has a lot of overlapped regions along the line connecting two neighboring pieces. So don't expect to see a complete map or text captioning.

It also cannot hold the air for 10 minutes.

I am very disappointed that Amazon is selling products which are worst than dollar stores' stuff now.

Totally waste of money and time.

I am returning it.

It's shocking how many people don't know where anything is on the planet. When I was growing up we had maps and globes in every relative's house. That is how I learned geography--I was so incredibly bored at Aunt Zelda's house with no TV or Barbie to play with that I looked at the globe for hours. Most kids are interested in learning, especially if we don't force it, but rather let them discover it.
My son is five and loves this ball. He picks it up, brings it to me, closes his eyes and points to an area, for example Yemen, or Tanzania, or Finland. Then we look it up (encyclopedia, computer, atlas) and find out what they grow, export, make; what the weather is like, the people, government, whatever. I always learn something too. It's a great game but it doesn't feel forced. Try it. Put a globe around and your kids will ask you about it. It's great.

It seems to be a nice globe on the Amazon picture but it is really bad quality.
The air globe would deflate every 5 minutes. There was a hole on it (punctured) and if you touch you can feel the material is really bad, so I decided to ask for refund instead of replacement.
It has a good size and the City/countries are correct though.
