Great, great animal set! My 25 month old daughter is just NUTS about animals! Our 14 mo. old son likes them too- He's just learning animal names and these are a help.
1. Love that there is a good variety- horse, cow, sheep, goat, pig, rooster, goose. 2. Animals are a nice size- perfect for little hands. 3. Even though they are a little big, our kids love to use them with the Little People Farm set. 4. Our kids like to play games with them- where is the rooster....? Or, because they are a good size we'll take something small, like a soup cracker or something and hide it under, on top of , beside, etc. an animal. Then ask, "where is the cracker? It's *under* the cow..." The only con.... There is no wild animals set! We'd buy another set if they offered one.

I ordered the Jumbo Farm Animals, the Dinosaurs, and the Jungle Animals. The Dinosaurs were the only ones worth the money. The horse and the Elephant (Jungle) do not stand. The legs are not all the same length, so they tip over. My 2 year old son loves playing with them, but I just don't think they were worth the money. I was definitely disappointed. Like another reviewer mentioned, the animals all have rings around their necks where they were molded together. The size is good, but the quality is bad.

Great infant toys- no batteries!,

My 9 month-old got these for Christmas and they are just perfect. She enjoys inspecting them and I talk about the names of the animals and the sounds they make. I know she will use them for a long time. The child I watch is almost 2 and he LOVES lining them up and making their sounds. They are fairly light, so when the kids whack each other with them it won't hurt much! The sizes are good and the paint is well done for the low price. I just hate when toy animals have human-like dopey expressions and these don't! The jungle set is just as nice (we got that, too).

I thought this toy was a bit expensive, but these are a nice size and nice quality. My baby daughter, 20 months, sets these up in a row and makes the animal sounds and entertains herself. It's a favorite toy in our house and worth the money in the end, I think they will last a long time.

The Jumbo Farm Animals is basically a very nice toy.
PROS: Nice large size animals Soft, light, feel nice and easy to hold Realistic and also good looking and colorful COULD BE EVEN BETTER: Somewhat expensive Cow and horse a bit small for the others. Size matters! A nanny goat with udders rather than a billy -- goats are valued for milking Family groups would be great - a hen for the rooster (or even instead of), a lamb, piglets IMPROVED DESCRIPTION: would have size of animals instead of size of box! AND I agree - a forest animal set would be a desirable addition. Teach kids to value our local ecosystem!

These animals are just the right size for little hands. My 15 month old granddaughter loves them and enjoys trying to make the sounds she thinks goes with them. Very good for the imagination and completely safe to play with. I am very pleased with these animals.

Toys look great, love the detail and perfect sizes. The only complaint I have is a small one, the toys have a horribly strong plastic smell. Tis won't be a problem after some time I hope, am leaving the box open in a room for a couple of days to see if it goes away. This won't be a problem for people who don't mind that smell.
I did look up on the Learning Resourcea website, and they are indeed made from "durable non-toxic plastic" . So should the baby get ahold of one I will try not to be too worried about the chemicals in them Product site here : [...]

Even though my 23 month old loves these, I still wish that I would have purchased a different set of animals. When I opened the package, I thought they had an overly strong "new plastic" smell. I know that most toys do have a smell to them when they're new, but these were a tad stronger. I washed them and let them air out though and it's okay now. It just bothered me since little ones love to put toys in their mouths. I'm also disappointed by all of the mold lines on these. It makes them look kinda cheap. I know that these "cons" I listed make me kinda sound like a yuppy (I promise I'm not) but I feel like I could have possibly found better farm animals somewhere else for the same price. That being said, these are very big and a lot of fun. my toddler loves showing off that she knows all of her farm animals. She makes them dance, talk to each other, etc. They stand up easily - which is important. The paint job on them is pretty good and the animals themselves are very cute. My daughter also isn't going to outgrow these in a few short months like she would with some other toys.

Bought all 3 sets (jungle animals, domestic pets & farm animals) based on the raving reviews but only to be disappointed! Thank goodness though I bought them on sale, it's definitely not worth what they are charging for! Poorly crafted, the bigger animals (dog, gorilla, horse, cow) all appears to be "decapitated" - the sewn line right around the animal's necks; Mr. Giraffe occurs to have a severe hemorrhage - rather unpleasant!. Where the sewn line met, edges are jagged, bad paint job (lead based paint?) not that realistic as some reviews claimed.
My 18 month old son did have a blast with them (bravo for those jumbo sizes); however to an animal friendly/loving/savvy parent, it's rather disturbing to have to explain to the young child why the cat and the dog (catzilla & dogzilla?) are much bigger than the cow! Paid almost 3 figures for all 3 sets (total of 15 animals). Look around - I found same quality, tag smaller animals for a fraction each at Walmart. Only set-back with those from Walmart are that there is only limited variety of animals. Ugh, we could have had a safari of 90 animals at that price!

How can it be so difficult to get a decent mold and at least assemble the parts without gaps and seams showing?
The poor sheep is so deformed it barely stays on its feet. If it wasn't for my animal crazy grandson sitting next to me when I opened the package and latched onto these creatures I would have sent it back with an appropriate note of what you can do with these poor excuses of animals. Shame on you for selling such junk! |
