Pretend and Play Camp Set

Are you ready to sleep under the stars? Pretend & Play Camp Set is perfect for outdoor adventures! Little campers can light their way in the dark or cook up the catch of the day. Utensil set with compass, battery-powered pretend stove and other authentic-looking components make play even more realistic.

Just add tent for all-in-one camping fun. The Pretend & Play Camp Set encourages little adventurers to role-play roughing it in the elements—just like the family’s grown-up outdoorsmen (or women). Realistic tools—including lantern, water bottle with cup, shovel, first-aid kit, utensil set with compass and more—show children the value of being prepared when leaving home. This Pretend & Play set helps children better understand their world while developing early language and social skills.

Set of 8 includes unique, battery-powered stove and lantern, water bottle with cup, pan, shovel, first-aid kit, pretend watch and utensil set with compass. Children can pretend to light a path through the woods, cook their food, patch boo boos, tell the time and follow directions while out hiking in the great outdoors. You can almost smell the fresh air.

Plastic pieces include unique, battery-powered pretend stove and lantern (2 AA batteries required for each, not included), water bottle with cup, pan, shovel, first-aid kit, pretend watch and utensil set with compass.

Ordered this for our almost four year-old son for Christmas '09. He has enjoyed going camping, having picnics and making us food with his Pretend and Play Camp Set. We love toys that encourage him to use his imagination and this one fits the bill. And it does more than I actually thought: I should have noticed from the picture that the utensils swivel apart to make two sets (fork/can opener and knife/spoon) which is good for sharing, the silver base of the canteen comes off to make another dish or container, and the "flames" on the camp stove raise and lower manually. The lantern and camp stove both light up which makes it more realistic without taking away from the pretend aspect. Just wish the set came with a little pack to keep it all together--but we are using an old basket which works just fine. Other than that it's a great little set for the price and so far seems durable.
*UPDATE Nov. '12* This set is probably one of our best toy purchases in terms of durability and longevity of use. Had this for three years now and my son and three year-old daughter still enjoy playing with it on a regular basis. All the pieces have held up great--just a few battery changes for the stove and lantern! I want to mention that it does look like this set has undergone some changes since we ordered it--the design of a few pieces is different and not sure if the utensils swivel apart anymore. Hope it's still the same great quality!

I bought this for my Grandson's 3rd birthday along with the "Kids Explorer Adventure and Hiking Set" and from the moment he received these sets he did NOT put them down. Our daughter could not believe just how realistic everything looked, then we all just sat and watched our "Little Camper".
He "cooked" us each a completely different meal and kept us all laughing hysterically for that entire night. He still uses his lantern as his night light.
Please continue creating toys that actually "force" children of all ages to simply use their imaginations, with NO need for batteries, TV or any other electronic device.
Please send me a catalog and add me to your mailing list for any future sales.
Sincerely,
Diane Zipko

Santa brought the kids a tent and tent accessories for Christmas. We used the latern to light up the tent and the kids used the containers to hold their treats. It tent accessories just add to the adventure. I would recommend the item for the price.

Bought the set for my nephew and I would've paid more and not complained. Probably one of the better toys I've bought on here. Lots of cools stuff and the pieces were well constructed. Fun toys for an outdoors kid that should stand up to playing outdoors.

We got this for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She absolutely loves camping. The stove was broken in one day. My dad ended up taking the whole thing apart and rewiring it. The very next day the lantern stopped working. Yes, we changed the batteries- no luck. He hasn't had the time to tear it apart but I imagine it will be the same issue. I would not recommend this product! It's cute but it's worth about $5- $10 at the most.

I took a chance. And lost. Believe the other reviewers. The most "fun" parts of the set (the lantern and the camp stove) either worked for only a short while or didn't EVER work. Disappointing for the grandchildren.
