I'll try to update this review again after the holidays when we've had more time with the set.I purchased the 73 piece kitchen set from Learning Resources along with the 80 piece play food set from Learning Resources. This was to go with a KidKraft Deluxe Kitchen that Amazon had discounted down considerably. The giftee is a two-year old boy. As others have noted, the colors of the kitchen set are extremely vibrant, the plastic is not so thick to be chunky, and it looks pretty durable. It's an extremely cute, little kitchen set. The only thing that shocked me was the sizing scale used for the different pieces. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. For example: - The ice cream scooper and dessert dishes were a decent enough size that we could use them for every day use. They are probably correct portion size for adults. - The old-school juicer looks to be large and durable enough that an adult could also use it with small-to-medium oranges. - The largest plate was smaller than the palm of my hand (guessing 2"). - The water pitcher is micro-sized comparatively and looks like it can hold 2 oz If you get the Learning Resources play food set to go with it, you'll discover that you can't actually put most of the food on the plates or in the pots. The hotdog, hamburger and pizza all seemed to take up at least 2-3 dinner plates from the kitchen set. The fake spaghetti was big enough that it didn't fit in my smallest saucepan, let alone my son's kitchen set.

I bought this because our local library has a similar set that my 2 year old daughter cannot get enough of! There are a lot of fun pieces in this set, such as cookie cutters, a roller, timer, masher, whisk, drying rack, etc., that I did not see in other sets. The only thing that I thought was missing are cups - except for the four mugs, which I thought was strange. I am a little disappointed with the quality. I expected the plastic to be heavier and more durable. However, my daughter does use them quite a bit in her pretend kitchen and enjoys them.

I ordered this set for my three year old daughter last Christmas to go with her new kitchen set. I picked this one out of the many choices because it was so complete. It has everything a kitchen should have, a tea kettle, bakeware, pots, pans, cookie cutters, and every utensil possible. My daughter loves having everything in her kitchen that I have in mine. My only complaint is that the bottoms come off the dessert dishes and can easily get lost. Otherwise, an excellent product with many more years of use to come.

I researched for the best play food/utensils/plating, etc prior to purchasing this set. I already had Melissa & Doug's products in my cart, when I saw this under the "recommended" section. I had never heard of the manufacturer, Learning Resources, but the 10+ online reviews were all positive. When we received this in the mail, I couldn't quite believe that so many pieces could fit in that one box. And let me tell you, there are ALOT of pieces. I don't think I'll have to buy my tot any more kitchen accessories for a very long time, if at all.As for quality, I am impressed with this product. Although plastic, it does seem sturdy. My daughter's only had it for about 3 weeks, but she's rough on her toys, and so far so good with this one. I had initially wanted realistic colored (e.g. stainless steel) pots & pans, since my daughter loves to watch me cook with our pots & pans. But the colors of this product are all primary and vibrant, which are more appealing to our tot. We love watching her take the pots and pans and "cook" pretend food, then serve them on her plates with utensils. She loves these toys. For some reason, she's become attached to the cookie dough roller and loves to roll pretend dough on our floor. There's just so much variety to this product. It definitely keeps her busy and she's discovering new accessories all the time. Oh, there's also a plate stand, so your child can "wash & dry" their dishes and load them onto the stand. For the money, you get alot of bang for the buck.

This package has lots of parts to it. My son likes them. The plates are small, but the other pieces are better sized. Overall glad we got the addition to his kitchen

My four year old nephew received kitchen stove and frig etc for xmas but no one bought him any kitchen tools, pans plates etc so I ordered this set for him and he adores it! I'm very glad I got this set for him. Reports I'm getting state that his parents are eating a lot of pretend food! That's just what I wanted to hear. It's toys like this that help a child develop their imagination and provide hours of fun and entertainment. Thanks amazon for another good product.

My 2 year old son loves it. There is such a wide variety of pieces; he plays with something different each day. He loves the teapot which doesn't look too girly for him. I like the colors, and they seem very durable.January 2012: My son is 3 now and still plays with these often. He loves to make orange juice with the juicer. We play with the cups on the bath tub. They are very durable and still look great after more than a year.

My 3 year old grandson is wild about cooking shows especially Emeril. So is his mom. He would set up on a large ottoman with his mother's pots and pans. Now he has his own utensils and loves them. His favorite is his own timer which only times one minute.

I bought this for my nieces and nephew (ages 8, 6, 4, and 2), to along with their Kidkraft Deluxe Let's Cook Kitchen. I also bought Learning Resources Giant Play Food Set, Set of 80 for them. I have 2 kids myself and we have the exact same kitchen at home, so I knew what to expect. While there are plenty of pieces in this kit, I don't know if it's worth buying the kit itself. For my own kids, I bought the pots and pans set separately, and it's great. I knew, though, that my brother and his wife had not bought their kids any dishes yet, so I wanted to get them both food and dishes at the same time. As others have said, the plates are extremely small! I really don't understand the point of them. The timer was also not very good quality and was hard for the kids to use. I also didn't like that there are mugs, but no normal cups. I guess I think of mugs as something you drink coffee or other hot drinks out of, and regular cups are for juice or milk. I sat in their play room and played with them after the packages came, and they were super excited. I could tell, though, that the plates weren't really going to work. They'd take the learning resources food (great stuff, by the way), and put it on these dinky plates, and the food would be literally bigger than the plate! What I did at my own home was go to the dollar store and buy cheap plastic plates, cups, and bowls (not the disposable kind, more like the kind for picnics.) I also bought a ketchup and mustard bottle, salt & pepper shaker, and any other various kitchen stuff that looked appropriate. I wish I would have done that for my brother's kids! I still do recommend the pots and pans set, as it is super cute and durable (Learning Resources Cooking Set).

I just ordered this for Christmas for my 3 year old and 1 year old. After reading the reviews I thought this was the best value for money. The plates are TINY...even the dinner plates are tiny...so don't expect more than a small hot dog to fit on them. Otherwise I think its a great toy, but be warned about the plates.
