This is a good way for kids to learn how to visualise amounts without having to count each time. But for kids under 6 they probably will need to count the bugs each time so you will need patience when you play with younger ones. Still we have fun playing with 4 yr old twins and their 2 year old sister plays along (she is allowed to match the bug types rather than count which makes it easier for her). It does take long time to fill the complete square which our daughters insist they must do and so you will need some patience. But they love to spin the dial and it has improved their counting skills. For a faster game try Zingo (great for pre-reading skills)
