5.0 out of 5 stars hands down the best play food, December 31, 2006

the pieces are not chokable (too small) which is especially nice if you have a toddler and a baby; the pieces are very realistic; my daughter received a set of these breakfast, lunch, & dinner foods in baskets for her 2nd b-day & plays with them daily; we separate the foods by color into the different baskets, she pretends to make breakfast, lunch, & dinner in *her* kitchen & feeds her "babies" while my husband & I get meals ready in *our* kitchen, etc. - a great gift/toy for young toddlers that will probably last a long time as the way she (& her younger sister) play with them over the years (think: pretend supermarket, pretend restaurant, etc.); when babies/kids put the pieces in their mouths it's easy to put them all through the dishwasher or hand-wash them to sanitize them

5.0 out of 5 stars Lasts for years!, November 17, 2007

We have had this set for years now, having been played with three children over the space of 7 years. The food items are of a realistic size. The lettuce really looks like lettuce and the cheese is so real, I have accidentally scolded my kids for leaving cheese on the floor. :)

As the other reviewer said, be sure to sanitize - I use cleaning wipes rather than soak them in water since some items (like the "milk" in a cup) have a small hole where water could get trapped inside.

I would gladly buy this again, it's a really durable and fun set. My kids still enjoy playing with it. Thank goodness for toys like this that don't need batteries!!

I got this for my grandson to play with when he comes over and he loves it! I got this along with a couple of the other sets and some plates, bowls, utensils. He is three and will play a long time with this food. He sometimes puts it in his mouth, which I wish he wouldn't do, but that's kids for you. I always am hopeful there's nothing toxic on the coating and I've washed these by hand. None of the color has come off yet. The carrots from one of the sets are quite small and could be a choking hazard for younger kids. These foods are very durable and look like they could last a long, long time!!

Bought this for Christmas for my son to go along with his new toy kitchen. He was very pleased that he now had his own shopping basic to go buy new food. He was instantly using the pieces to make his own sandwiches in various combinations and really loves it. He now cooks meals all the time with me. The food is very durable, large enough not to be a choking hazard, and easy to clean. Highly recommended.

I purchased this for my preschooler and toodler. When I received these I amazed by how real these looked and felt. My kids have spend hours playing and loving this set. I will not buy any other pretend/ play food than from Learning Resources. The quality and realism is top.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than Melissa &Doug's play food!, June 1, 2011

We bought both sets, from Learning Resources and Melissa and Doug's play food, and Learning Resources is by far superior. They are much more "life-like," there is a lot more detail, and are larger pieces. The Melissa and Doug version is much smaller, and bulky. Plus the velcro patches that are meant to connect the pieces together take away from the "realism" of the food. They do help to keep the pieces together when the kids make sandwiches or burgers, but the velcro is needed because the M&D play food is so bulky.

The only complaint I have about the Learning Resources play food is that the set we bought (the sandwich and burger in a blue shopping basket) is that the "milk" slips out of the "glass." We will be Super-Gluing the "milk" to the glass soon.

Overall, very happy with the play food, and our two year old son loves making us lunch!

I really like this food. It is well-made, feels good, and doesn't break like the cheap stuff does. I wish there were more pieces to the set, though. The milk is a little silly to me, and I didn't like the "white" bread. Who eats that anymore? But it really is a nice set. I just wish there were more to it.

I bought this food for my daughter's 2nd birthday...to go witht he kitchen set she is getting. I haven't given her either things yet, but I KNOW she will love them. She has some cheaper less realisitic looking food now & she has a ball with it. The quality is wonderful, I couldn't be more happier with that. It is "life" size not miniature so it will look big on the kitchen set plates, but that's no big deal. I this was the first set I ordered (i wanted to see how the quality was in person before ordering more) but since this came in I've bought more and plan to buy pretty much every set they make :)
I totally recommended it!
