I got this for my grandson to play with when he comes over and he loves it! I got this along with a couple of the other sets and some plates, bowls, utensils. He is three and will play a long time with this food. He sometimes puts it in his mouth, which I wish he wouldn't do, but that's kids for you. I always am hopeful there's nothing toxic on the coating and I've washed these by hand. None of the color has come off yet. The carrots from one of the sets are quite small and could be a choking hazard for younger kids. These foods are very durable and look like they could last a long, long time!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money!, January 7, 2008

I thought the price was high for play food until comparing it to other "cheaper" food. I realized that the quality is actually much higher and indeed worth the money. I like that the play food models healthy foods- fight obesity and teach kids to develop nutritious eating habits- and that it is so incredibly durable made from vinyl material guaranteed to last where other play foods are from cheap plastic and could probably easily be destructed... depending on the kid...I definitely recommend it! Oh and it looks incredibly realistic, when my daughter saw it she bit into a carrot and looked confused until I told her it was for playing and not eating- so much for telling her not to play with her food!!

My daughter has lots of play food, but this is by far the best. It gets her accustomed to associating fruits & vegetables with meals & snacks and making healthy food & drink choices more of a norm. The spaghetti is her favorite, since the sauce with meatballs is seperate from the pile of spaghetti, so she can "fix" it herself. She also even has fun with the basket it all comes in when she plays grocery store (selecting fruits and vegetables, of course). Kids loose interest in their toys so quickly, but this is one she consistently plays with over and over again. I also highly recommend the breakfast and lunch sets, too. The quality in these toys far exceeds that of her other play food, making it really stand out from the rest. Two big thumbs up!

I was at Costco last week and my boys saw the pack of three healthy food baskets for $19.99 total. They LOVED them, so I got one pack for them and one pack for my niece (hers is for Christmas). The boys have been playing with the sets non stop. And I didn't realize what a great deal I got until I checked here. So, if you are in the market for this playfood this holiday season, go to Costco. It's well worth the money.

I recently purchased a pretend kitchen for my 21 month old and needed to find some food for her to play with. I scoured the internet looking for quality pretend food. Although I could easily find over 100 pcs for $25, I chose this (and a few other) set(s) because of their realism and durability. I was not disappointed! These are a bit more pricey so I wasn't able to get all of the sets, but I purchased a lunch and a healthy dinner set from Learning Resources to go along with a breakfast set that includes a toaster. The baskets are really sturdy and one can hold all of her 3 sets of food. I can't think of a problem with these, but the pieces are bigger than the play kitchen I purchased. It doesn't matter at this stage, but I wish I had purchased these first and then figured out which kitchen set I worked best.

Bought this for my 21 month old granddaughter and she loves it. It's a nice mixture of play foods- including spaghetti with or without meatballs & marinara. The peas are a bright pretty green- a favorite with her. The beans are a little weird- we just called them "grapes" because she really doesn't know from beans at this stage. The potato does look like a dark brown rock, but that's okay. The bread slice is great, the chicken filet just fine, the "glass of milk" kind of gratuitous. My only two objections are: 1)It always worried me when she picked up the carrots. They are very cute but just too tiny and could be swallowed. I'm just lucky that my granddaughter has long since passed that stage of putting stuff in the mouth. 2) It's a classic manufacturing cheat that they make it look like there's a whole lot of food in that basket, but really there's a cardboard platform inside the basket that the food sits on. Once you throw that out, you realize the foods only take up about 1/3 of the basket. - Oh- should mention the basket. It's terrific. So bright and pretty and extremely durable. My granddaughter decided she wanted to sit in it- pretty tight squeeze, as you can imagine- but she did it and loved it, also stood in it, just loves that basket and will undoubtedly carry all kinds of things around in it in the years to come. Overall, definitely recommend this as a great pretend-play toy.

This play food is very lifelike. My three year old girl and 5 year old boy have great fun fixing "dinner" for me. The texture is so much better than the old plastic type, and stays on the plate.

I am very impressed with how realistic this food is! My kids love it, and gravitate to it even over the assortment of Melissa and Doug food items I bought them for their Christmas gift play kitchen.,

This is great food if you have extra large play pots and pans. We bought the Green Toys chef and dinner set, and the food is WAY too big to fit into the pot, especially the spaghetti. Having said that, the food itself is really good quality. It's not like the plastic stuff you might find at Target in packs of 50 pieces. It actually looks pretty real, and the textures are pretty real, too. It's just disappointing that they're so big that my son can't really pretend to cook them.

The Learning Resources food is the most realistic looking play food on the market. The food size is close to actual size. Colors are vibrant and food is durable and easy to clean. I like that the food choices are healthy. I love the basket that keeps everything neat, organized and easy to carry.
