I purchased this for my nephew's 3rd birthday and he really likes it. He watches his daddy pack up his gym bag every day and is enjoying packing his own bag. He loves the water bottle, which he immediately had to have filled, the balls and the lock. The lock and keys definitely have him intrigued! It's fun for him to open and close all the pockets, pack it up and act like he's off to the gym. I'm not sure I'd pay the current price for it. It was on sale for $11.99 when I bought it.

This review has been a long time coming. I bought this for my one year old for christmas in 2007, as she was my husband and I's constant gym companion but there was nothing safe for a tiny little gym maven to play with. This kit had it all, down to the little gym ID card (which my now 5 year old girl still has). It was loaded with cute little baby/toddler friendly "gym" accessories, a lock, a fillable water bottle, two balls, the cutest (lightest) dumbell you'll ever see, a rep counter , a workout tracker and more! The bag was very sturdy and all the items were in bright kid friendly colors. The amount of use she got out of it was ridiculous, and everytime we took it out anywhere, the inevitable response from envious parents was "WHERE did you get that, that is the cutest thing EVER!!" We've cycled through a lot of toys over the years, and I'm sad to say that the bag went away a year or so bag (and yes I cried when I took it to goodwill), but every now and again, one of the pieces surfaces and is still played with today. This toy is loads of fun and will last you for years to come!

Fun toy, wish it had two barbells,

I bought this to go along with an exercise video that I do with my 2 year old son, and the 18 month old that I babysit. I wanted something with barbells, so they could do their "weight training" along with me. This is a nice toy with an attractive colorful design. However, I wish it came with two barbells. Who works out with only one barbell? I even called Learning Resources to ask if I could purchase an extra barbell and they said they do not sell the pieces separately. The boys love playing with the lock and key and the water bottle the most. They also like the stopwatch, the balls, and, of course, the barbell. So far the boys aren't interested in threading the laces, or working with the zipper or buttons on the duffel bag, but maybe they will when they get a little older. And for our purposes, the wristband and log booklet are of no use. I gave it three stars on durability because the balls are that foam rubbery type material that is tempting for kids to sink their teeth into. Ours already has teeth marks, and I keep a close eye on them, as they could be a choking risk if they bit off a chunk. They also often manage to remove the keys from the keyring, so that the three keys and the ring end up scattered all over. Overall it is a decent quality and a great concept, but LR should consider offering two barbells for a more "realistic" play experience.
