5.0 out of 5 stars Wins a Gold Star from Daughter
My 8-year-old received this last year for Christmas, and yes, it was recommended for 4-5 year olds, but what do they know about really teaching school??? The set up is not a pre-school one, but an elementary school with report cards, attendance lists, etc. This is the one play item that my daughter and her friends always seek out when they come to my house. 2.0 out of 5 stars Bought New..arrived looking used
I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my niece. When the package arrived, the box of the product was all beat up and taped together by scotch tape! The only reason that I am keeping it is because the product inside is sealed in plastic.

The set up is not a pre-school one, but an elementary school with report cards, attendance lists, etc. This is the one play item that my daughter and her friends always seek out when they come to my house. It is very well done. Would recommend for any child that likes to play school!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretend and Play School is a great item, March 23, 2006
This review is from: Learning Resources Pretend and Play School Set (Toy)
My daughter received this for her 5th birthday. She likes to pretend she is a teacher. She didn't understand what the report cards, hall passes and grade sheets were for. However, a child a few years older would. She likes tracking the weather and circling the current day on the calendar and writing on the board. She loves the pointer, bell and stickers. It is a great toy for pretend play for a 4 or 5 year old. It doesn't seem that babyish, so I think a 6 or 7 year old (maybe even 8) would like to play with it. An older child would understand the maps, hall passes, grades and report cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy, December 3, 2006
This review is from: Learning Resources Pretend and Play School Set (Toy)
My 9 year old daughter has had this toy for 2 years and she still plays with it on a regular basis. She and her friends play school with each other or even with their animals. They also sell a refill kit for when you run out of the stickers and paper. A really great value for kids who love to pretend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super item -- flawed packaging, January 8, 2005

Precious, precious item. My 9 year old daughter just loves it. It might seem young for a girl this age, but she loves to play school, and she loves having all the "tricky" things right there together in one package. A sweet toy. One problem: Seller did not include the markers in the package! List of items included clearly says "markers," but the markers did not make it into the package. Oh well. These are easy enough to replace. We were unable to get this package before Christmas as item was out of stock. Even when we ordered it after Christmas, our ship date was listed as some time in March. Surprise! Product arrived before January 1! Grandparents, for a young girl this would be a wonderful, fun gift. (Although stay under the age of 8 to be on the safe side--my daughter is young for her age.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great play school set, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Learning Resources Pretend and Play School Set (Toy)
I bought this for my 8 year old niece who loves playing school. On Christmas, it was the only gift she seemed really excited about! As other reviewers have said, it should include a dry erase marker for the white board, but that is my only complaint. The age range should also be marked for older kids. It is a very nice set!

It is a great toy...but not for the age recommendation of 4-5. I purchased it and will have to hold onto it for a few years before I give it to my daughter. A six year old or up will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, February 20, 2009

This is a great toy for kids who like to play school. I bought it for my 4 year old granddaughter. Her 7 year old sister loves it just as much; maybe even more.
It has all the necessary components for your "classroom". The kids especially love the pointer and the bell. A suggestion: Laminate the paper goods...hall passes, etc. This allows you to use them over and over. Also the 7 year old wanted some new ones made that are the same as the ones she has at school. Easy to find clip art etc. online to make new passes , puzzles etc. A great educational toy!!

I got this for my 5 year old, who started kindergarten this fall, and she is in love with the whole school concept. She loves to pretend to be the teacher with this playset. Her friend came over one day and played with it, too, and they took turns being the student and teacher. I ended up buying another set for her friend's birthday.

5.0 out of 5 stars My eight year old daughter loves this!, December 28, 2006
This review is from: Learning Resources Pretend and Play School Set (Toy)
This was my 8 year old daughter's favorite Christmas gift. She is "teacher" to her 4 & 6 year brothers (and sometimes their friends). She loves the pointer and the different pads of paper for report cards, grades, hall passes, etc. There is a large pouch to put excess paper in so there's no frustration in trying to fit everything back into it's original spot. Everything is self contained and it folds up to a manageable size. The toy manufacturer states the suggested age as 3+ but I wouldn't buy it for a child under 5.

My four-year-old niece loves her play school set. She enjoys playing teacher. It's perfect for helping her adjust to preschool. This set has kept her busy.
