We have a set of these for our homeschool classroom. They are very educational, illustrate fractions well, and are colorful. On the downside they are thin plastic and the larger pieces can break easily if the kids aren't very careful with them (especially the '1'). The other big problem is the tray they come in. Unless it's sitting flat on a surface where it will not be disturbed all the little tiles will come out. We now keep them in a ziploc bag instead which is easier but it's annoying to have to pick out all the little ones to show 1/12th, it's also easy for these tiny tiles to get lost.

I am amazed at the amount of learning they facilitate. My students love to use these tiles. It really helps them to be able to see the fractions and compare and make equivalent fractions.

Easy Fractions for the Visual Learner,

I bought this for my K-er to play around with when it was on sale. After a couple of days of playing around, she was able to add fractions with the same denominator, compare fraction sizes, and make wholes from parts. Needless to say, this set is an amazing tool for a visual learner. In addition to the tray and tiles, it also comes with instructions with several games and activities to use with the set. There are also stickers showing different fractional representations. For example, they have pie part fractions as stickers and the stickers are color-coded to match with the tiles. The 1/4 tiles are yellow, so the pie part 1/4 stickers are also yellow. This is going to help in the future when I want to show that a fraction can be represented in many different ways. I plan on putting the stickers on index cards to use with the set. On the downside, the set feels like very cheap plastic. Because it doesn't feel sturdy at all, I would think that in a larger classroom it would be easily broken and the pieces would quickly be lost. I read the review about the smaller pieces popping out and the tray needing to be on a flat surface, so we store it flat on my daughter's bookshelf and do any work on a table.

I bought this for the 'Homework Help' Center at my local library. The librarians were thrilled with it and we know it will be useful for the upcoming school year when the elementary kids are studying fractions.

This product is good visual tool used to introduce my child to fractions.
I use it with the Singapore math books ([...]) for her math studies. Although, she is in 1st. grade, she is finishing up 2nd. grade math at home with no problems. She likes to play with the tiles, and she understands the relationship between the numbers.

Both my 3 and 5 year old love to play with it, and it's fun to learn during play!
the younger kid can play it like a puzzle, no need to put all 1/10 or 1/12 in a row, they can mixed up and just make sure they all end in a 1 in a row. Great product! for the storage part, you can always use your own ziploc bag.
