This review is from: Learning Sight Words is Easy! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
Need to add a little pizazz to your phonics lessons and sight words drills? "Learning Sight Words is Easy" is an outstanding resource filled with ready-to-use activities and wonderful blackline masters for mini books, word searches, bingo games, flash cards, take home letters, and more. There's a suggested order of instruction for each of the sets of ten words, and lots of great suggestions and teaching tips. A brand-new book to add to your professional bookshelf. Highly recommended.

Fun and easy ways to practice sight words....,

This review is from: Learning Sight Words is Easy! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
This book gives you a routine of 5 or so activities for a group of 10 words at a time. These include word searches, mini-books, fill in the blank, and my students' favorite: sight word bingo. It is easy to use because it is all reproducibles, including the bingo boards. It does not share any teaching tips or theories, but if you're just looking for easy sight-word reproducibles it can be quite useful.

Help Raise Your Child's Reading Level,

This review is from: Learning Sight Words is Easy! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
My Child's 1st grade teacher told us that he had not progressed during the 1st grading period. He was still at a 3/4 reading level. I purchased this book and began working with my child 5 night's a week for 6 weeks. We worked through all 100 words just in time for his 2nd grading period assessment. He jumped to a level of 9/10!

This workbook was wonderful, with games (like word BINGO), fill in the blanks, flashcards (you had to cut them out) and many, many different types of excercises that made the learning of sight words fun and engaging. My money was well spent.

I've used this book in a small private school and homeschooling, both for Kindergarten. There's 10 lessons and we spent two weeks per lesson. At the end of 20 weeks, your child should know all the beginning sight words they'll need in reading. I taught this in conjunction with phonics instruction, because this book only teaches 100 SIGHT words.

This book has excellent resources to teach sight words. The Bingo Games are a good hands on activity for the children to learn. The story books are another good source for learning to help children grasp memorization of sight words.

Not a lot of content,

This review is from: Learning Sight Words is Easy! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
This book contains reproducible mini-books, bingo cards, flash cards, some word search puzzles and fill-in activities. In my opinion, the fill-ins are a bit too challenging. I even had trouble with them. The only thing in this book really "worth it" that I couldn't make as well myself, are the mini-books. The mini-books each contain several different sight words, so they seem to me to be more effective for review of words the student has already learned than in the initial learning of them.

This is a good book but as a reading specialist and first grade teacher I prefer the book, Quick Small Group Reading Activities for Struggling Students by Sandy Turley. I use this book on a daily basis and find it to be indispensable! It not only comes with many great sight word games and activities but also includes many phonemic awareness activities as well. All activities are reproducible virtually eliminating hours of prep.
