Long over due for a book like this, February 10, 2000

This review is from: Learning to Survive (Paperback)
Finally, a book about cancer that "tells it like it is", yet offers so much hope! The author's mix of personal experiences and guidelines/suggestions for things to be aware of make this worthwhile reading for people with cancer, as well as their families, and care givers. I like the fact that this book is not a medical journal focusing only on what is physically happening to the body, nor does it only relate to spiritual or alternative medicines. Learning to Survive explains experiences of mind, body, and emotion. You feel the author's pain, and yet, there's a reasurring tone throughout the book. It's so easy and quick to read, and compels you to finish it. I highly recommend it to others whether they have cancer, or are family members of a cancer patient, want to learn more about cancer, or work in the medical field. I've recommended it to several people, and plan to give it as a gift to many also.
