Most highly recommended! This is a meticulously detailed book for executives of all business sectors and is very well-suited for use within the global context. The Introduction provides an accurate and succinct rationale for the book followed by a brief historical overview of strategy. Subsequent chapters include a thorough description of the learning process entailed. Dr. Sloan is an original thinker and her work manifests a solid body of research involved.

Learning to Think Strategically is not just for a business student but for every student and educator. As in the Greek thinking of strategy, it is relevant to every particular purpose. While I believe the process to learn to think strategically is lifelong, many would agree that it is important for the process to start early and perhaps it should be the overall goal of our education. People like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Li Ka Shing and many others do not have much formal education but they are extremely successful in what they do because, I believe, they have the five attributes, described in the book, causing them to be grand strategists. A great strategist can actually create opportunities while others would be darn good just to seize an opportunity. Some people have the gift to see, plan and execute over a long horizon but most of us need to be molded to be that way. This book provides a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of strategic thinking and its learning process, and carries a far-reaching impact on the way we educate the next generation.

Sloan hits it out of the park. Somehow, she has mastered subject matter that's simply difficult to capture and share. In the past I have rarely made it past the first chapter or two when trying to comprehend this topic. However, her take on strategic thinking is presented in a way that even makes sense to a layman like me. Accordingly I’m sure I’ll be able to apply her clearly-stated points much more effectively. This book is well written and comes highly recommended to any aspiring professional.

An innovative approach to a very tough topic. Not a cursory overview, but a head-on account of the intricacies involved in the learning aspect that supports strategic thinking. A compelling rationale for this well-written book is stated in the Introduction and I would recommend it as a "must-read" for corporate strategists and executive development programs.
