5.0 out of 5 stars Great for highly gifted young children!!!
While the material is dated to the VHS days of production, it has a level of creativity and interaction of the characters and concepts that is targeted for young children. I find the entire series excellent for young and quick-learning children. 3.0 out of 5 stars Learning Treehouse: Math - Multiplication
This program seemed to be a 1980s vhs transfer, but I thought it was ok and my nephew watched about fifteen minutes of it. My nephew did learn some multiplication. Once again you can't beat the under five dollar price.

While the material is dated to the VHS days of production, it has a level of creativity and interaction of the characters and concepts that is targeted for young children. I find the entire series excellent for young and quick-learning children. I give this series 5 stars because it entertains young kids from (2 years of age to probably 6 years of age), and they learn. Young children will laugh while watching the series. I think it is a great value for early math education, and I am glad these videos exist!

It uses a variety of puppet characters like Sesame Street, but don't expect the same level of quality as Sesame Street characters. We do find that Chef and Ducky are very entertaining. Each video subject will use different characters. The puppets interact with Shelly, who is the human instructor. She helps teach them how to use math, and she answers their questions. They discover how easy math is using visual aids, and real life objects as manipulatives such as, pizzas, milk cartons, cereal boxes, cookies, etc.

If I had older children, I might be less impressed by this series, but still it is a very cheap investment struggling 1st-3rd graders. I do suspect if the child is having problems at their own grade level, this series could still be of some help. I can't really gaurantee it since our young children were very quick learners and they got the concepts before school. Other than this kind of learning style, one might consider something opposite such as Kumon which presents worksheets and practice exercises is a very progressive manner. Also, there is many free Internet learning sites for all math subject which I would add here, but Amazon doesn't like web links in reviews. Sorry.

3.0 out of 5 stars Make sense. Not too boring., August 31, 2009

This DVD is a 2008 copy from a very old copy (probably from 80s?). The content is made to be engaged and funny. It's about a conversation with a real person and a puppet dog. It also reviewed the math multiplication facts. I saw the review said it's way too boring but I don't think it's the case. If your child is always stimulated by the lastest TV shows and computer games. This might not be something interesting to him. However, if the child seldom sees TV, this might actually be interesting and not too boring. I don't regreat buying this. Since it's just $4.99, I think you might like to try it.
