Interesting for Any Age,
This review is from: Learning About Tropical Butterflies (Dover Little Activity Books) (Paperback)
I have been reading Learning About books to my son for over a year now - this was the book that started it all.
We live near Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, where they have a live butterfly exhibit every spring. My toddler wanted to see them all the time, so I purchased this book. Even though he isn't able to read by himself (he's only three), he is still able to memorize the names, and match them to pictures. Each book contains descriptions about appearances, behavior, and other educational facts. I am thoroughly impressed with the quantity of information provided in such small, inexpensive books...and the size makes them handy for travel too. The kids have fun placing the stickers on the corresponding pages. The illustrations for the stickers include such detail that my son instantly recognizes any of the animals from the Dover books, if we happen to see them at the zoo, aquarium, nature trail, etc. This book covers the Malachite, Julia, Blue Morpho, Mimic, Kamehameha, Dark Kite-Swallowtail, Mexican Bluewing, Mexican Sister, White Peacock, Red-bordered Pixie, Ruddy Daggerwing, and Tiger Mimic-Queen butterflies. Facts include feeding habits and migration patterns. If you enjoy this book, I also recommend Learning About Butterflies (Learning About Books). |
