repulsive and intriguing all at the same time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Leash (Native Agents) (Paperback)
I heard about this book on NPR so it seemed like a pretty good bet. When I first started reading the book, I was a little disgusted by the explicitness of the sexual acts depicted. But once I got passed the initial shock, I couldn't stop reading. If you want to read something other than the usual, read this book. However, if you can't get past the graphic and lurid details of s&m acts, I wouldn't recommend this one.

Astonishing Piece of Work,

Don't be put off by the reviews of those too squeamish to get to the, um, bone of this astonishing novel. Many of the erotic scenes ARE chilling and hard to take. (Testimony to the talent here: This stuff is about as far from my personal tastes as it's possible to get, yet I was often surprised, and a bit shaken, to find myself getting steamy. That takes powerful writing.) I've just ordered my fifth or sixth copy of the book. For some reason my friends keep lifting it off the shelf.

I wonder about weird things...like what it is like to be a dog. Well, I got my answer in what I thought was a porn novel, turned out to be an amazing psychological thriller. I couldn't put the book down and I am not sure if it is because I wasn't sure what "Chris" would do next or kept wondering where the dog part fit into this whole novel. If you like out of the ordinary reads, this is a great one.

Dark & unpleasant & commendable,

I got this book in hand bij mistake, and really never let it out again. It's not a nice book and it's not attractive, indeed it's dark and unpleasant and the characters are not always as rounded as the author thinks them. But it is exactly the disturbing nature of the things happening that kept me reading, and the thought that this is something lurking in most people's minds, somewhere- it disturbed me deeply, and months after reading it i'm still not comfortable thinking about this book. An example: I am,on beforehand, disgusted by sex with dogs. Still, the story pulls you in (unfortunate metaphor), so that when it happens, it is not really a surprise, and I accepted it as a logical outcome. That's what's so good about the book, and that is why I recommend it.

Leash,

I liked this book, yes it was kinky and perverse, but murder mysteries are shocking and horrific and people don't mind that. If you can stomach watching shows like CSI then this is a walk in the park! (No pun intended..lol) Try not to take your morals too seriously, it's a fascinating story. Regardless of what you think of the characters it is a definite page turner!

Out There,

I enjoyed the 1st part of the book, even found it erotic until the "being turned into a dog" part started. It was a bit over the top for me, especially the dog show.

Laxative anyone?,
By Ellen "E-shizzle" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leash (Native Agents) (Paperback)
I can't look at a dog in the street without wondering whether its Chris under there. This book was repulsive and actually embarrasing to read. I was constantly paranoid that someone would lean over my shoulder and read the filth on those pages. With those thoughts running through her mind, I really dont know how the author isnt institutionalized. Even once I got past the vivid nature of the book I was still emotionally shocked that that animal of a woman (the author) wouldnt even let Chris stay with her owner. She stole my innocence and any love i've ever had for dogs. Walk passed leash and go straight to the harry potter. you'll thank me.
