5.0 out of 5 stars Superbo
This is probably the best glamrock album ever released. Very inspired by early Mötley Crüe though poppier and more catchy. If you are a rocker and are one album away from dying you should choose this album.

I would give this album 6 stars out of 5 if it was possible.
cheers;)

Otherwise, this collection of tunes blows overall (yeah, Toast of the Town is cool, but I still prefer Motley's version over the one found here), and I quickly re-discovered why PBF never elevated to the heights of success reached by similar lipstick and hairspray bands: because the songwriting was fairly weak, and simply sucked balls in comparison. PBF does look the part; so put on your leather pants, tease your hair to the sky, and do yourself (and everybody else) a favor and go slap on Vain's 'No Respect' instead...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, Very Glam, October 2, 2010
This review is from: Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz (Audio CD)
Artist: Pretty Boy Floyd
Album: Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz
Year: 1989
Rating: 4-1/2 Stars
Review: Pretty Boy Floyd's stunning debut album that changed hair metal. Personally, this is one of my favorite albums ever, for various reasons. First up, the titled track "Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz" features roaring guitars, smashing drums, thundering bass, and Steve Summer's signature singing style give this song amazing energy, and intensity that still can't be matched. "I Wanna Be With You" the ballad on the album is very catchy, especially the chorus. It is a slight bit cheesey, but who cares, it's the 80's. "Rock N' Roll-Set the Night On Fire" was Pretty Boy Floyd's groundbreaking MTV video, which is insanely Glam-Hair Metal, earned the band a following from MTV airplay, and pretty much sums up most of the album. "Only The Young" is an electric-acoustic mix with very catchy vocals. It is not as heavy or "Glamish" as the rest of the album, but overall is a very good song. Other songs such as "48 Hours", "Wild Angels" and "Toast of the Town" are very good songs with classic Pretty Boy Floyd Style.[June 27, 2010]
P.S. if your buying the 2005 rerelease, the bonus tracks are no good. [...]

Pretty Boy Floyd, should have achieved everything that fellow bands like Poison, Bon Jovi, Warrant, and Firehouse achieved, but sadly they were lost in the shuffle of history. Songs like Rock 'N' Roll, I Wanna Be With You, 48 Hours, and Toast Of The Town are all outstanding, and surely deserved more attention.

Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz, is easily one of the finest records released during the hard rock explosion of the 80's and early 90's. There is simply no reason I can surmise, as to why these guys did'nt blow up sky high - except that there were 2,000 other bands playing this type of music in 1989. However, not every other band released debut records this strong.

The songs on this record are as catchy as the clap, and i'm positive after one or two listens, you will most certainly agree with me. I would highly reccommend buying this record, and blasting it really loud!

5.0 out of 5 stars Underated But Legendary PRETTY BOY FLOYD, September 26, 2004
This is by far my favorite PBF album. It is honestly to bad that they are so unknown because they can rock it with any of the best 80's glam metal there is.If you like Poison,RATT,Cinderella,The NY Dolls,Early Crue,D'Molls, or 80's Metal in general this band is for you. There are alot of really good strong songs on here that deserve recognition.I Wanna Be With You is probably the closest they ever came to a hit and its a great song.Wild angels is an excellent hard ballad. There isn't a song on here I don't like.Everyone just gets better than the last.I own very few cd's where I like every song but this is one.My favorite song by far is Rock and Roll is gonna set the night on fire. This is like there Rock and Roll all nite(party everyday). When I listine to this song I picture a croud going nuts.Head Bang till you puke this is one F**king great CD.Also for newer fans PBF did do music videos for I Wanna Be With You and Rock And Roll Is Gonna Set The Night On Fire and they can usually be bought on ebay but you'll have to hunt.No music station MTV,VH1,Much,Muchmoremusic seem to have them but the vid for Rock and Roll is my favorite video and its exactly the kind of video to go with this song.ROCK ON

This is one of my favorite album ever. The album is awsome from the beginning to the end. Very catchy songs, great remake of toast of the town from motley Crue, they did it the way it should have been done at first and I'm a big Crue fan. It's a must have for any glam rock fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Is it just me?, November 21, 2003
I've listened to this cassette several times, and I've been noticing something wrong. It sounds like they are chanting something evil after the album is over, like it's a hidden track with parts of songs mixed in. I'm not sure what to make of it and it is wierding me out. Don't think I can listen again.

Other than that problem, the album is just typical stuff. They look like they are trying to be Motley Crue, but sound way lighter. The title track is the best song, there are some other decent work here too, but most of it seems like filler. If you know their history, it makes perfect sense.
