I ordered two of these, one from each seller. The one I ordered from brother-smith swords arrived very quickly and was in perfect condition. The leather was a very nice black with a good shine. The laces were leather and black as well. They were also very long. This unit would hold any size scabbard. Very good quality leather. The other one I ordered from the other seller, had a very poor die job on the leather and had a shoe lace that was very short and hard to thread through the eyes. The silver rivets were chipping off to expose a bronze/brass color metal underneath. To use a larger sheath with this one, would require replacing the shoe laces with something else. Although they were both supposed to be selling the same item, the one from brother-smith swords was much better quality. I am not affiliated with either seller, I am just giving my honest opinion based on my purchases of the same item from both sellers. Both items serve their purpose, but I must tell you, the shipping speed and quality of item was much better from brother-smith. He also has a phone number you can call if you need to speak with him. Very much pleased with the service and quality of the item I purchased from him. Hope this helps.

Bought this to hold a real sword (meaning it has significant weight), and it works great. The belt loops are big enough to fit over your oversized pirate-style belts, and the holster can be adjusted to almost any size if you're clever with the laces--meaning, my scabbard was considerably thinner than most 'toy' swords, but by re-routing the laces I easily made it fit nice and snug. Real leather, looks pretty authentic.

I had a similar experience as [N. Johnson]. I bought this to hold a full-size rapier for a costume and it worked pretty well. I had to be creative with the lacing to get the scabbard to fit, but it worked in the end. I pulled on the laces a bit too tightly and tore the tip off of one, but I should have expected that from real leather straps. (It's easy to get replacement ones from a craft store if need be). I also had to space the hooks when attaching to my belt or else the heavy sword would just hang straight down, which less helpful when dashing about in a heroic manner.

All in all, pretty functional and authentic looking. Good for the price too, but they get you on shipping every time!

I bought several of these items for a film project, one to hold a sword and two to hold daggers. The sword worked out great, as the belt I was using was not particularly wide and the actor only needed to use one weapon. These are high quality, with thick, strong leather and sturdy steel rivets and loops. I was really surprised about the quality, considering the price. You could literally walk around with a sword hanging from your hip all day with this thing and it wouldn't break, and holds the sword at the perfect angle (to be clear, I am no history buff or into reenactment, my opinions are based upon look and feel only).

The only issue I have with these items is that they can only go on the left hip, to draw the sword with the right hand. Lefties, forget it. There is no way to switch this to left handed arrangement, as the leather is all riveted in place and one of the cross sections gets in the way of turning the loop inside out. As a result, my actress who was supposed to have a dagger on each hip had to go with something else instead, which was really no big deal but meant I bought two of these sword hangers that went to waste for this project. However, had we just wanted to use a single dagger, this sword hanger would have been great despite the fact that the sheath for the dagger was very wide.

Additionally, though previous reviewers have said this would fit a "wide pirate belt," it would not fit the majority of the wide pirate belts I have seen. It fits a belt slightly wider than your standard men's belt found at any clothing outlet.

These really are awesome items, for a great price. High quality workmanship, for sure. Just be aware that it's for right-handed people only.

It looks great! The only thing I would mention is that it is designed for say, a belt that is about 1 1/2 inches wide, so any wider and it won't work. But for an average size belt, it looks amazing! Good quality product :)

This product is great^_^ The leather is pretty good and it's built very nicely, it works well with my katana. My only complaint its the leather string used to tighten it because it was very dry and rough so I replaced it with a shoe lace but other than that it's perfect.

Practical Knight Sword

Bought this to hold my prop sword for Halloween. Fit well, and held the sword to the belt securely.

This is a quality product. It is made of leather. I would suggest oiling the leather with mink oil as it seems to have been sitting a very dry place. A little oil will bring it back to life. It will hold large swords, but not small daggers.

This is made of real leather...nice right? well too bad the pins are cheap quality...and mine broke within the first use of it. DO NOT BUY

The leather used in this hanger seems to be of good quality and there are no issues with the hardware on the piece I received. On a sword with a wider cross guard (specifically the Cold Steel Italian Long Sword) it tends to want to twist a bit, but you can compensate with changing where the seam lies on the scabbard. However, the leather lace that came with the hanger I received was of inconsistent quality and prone to breakage. The first time it broke near the end, so I was able to just adjust within the lacing to compensate. When I moved the hanger to another scabbard, the lace broke within the lacing and was no longer of sufficient length to be used.

Overall, I'm pleased with the design and certainly the price, but be prepared to possibly need to replace the included lacing with something of a sturdier stock.
