![]() The Squirt folds down to a tight, easy-to-transport 2-1/4 inches (blue model shown; this listing is for the Storm Gray Squirt). |
This is the first miniature pliers multitool tough enough to be a Leatherman. The Squirt P4 is ultra-compact, super tough, and weighs just two ounces, making it the perfect multitool to pop into that backpack or slip into those slacks. And for such a tiny unit, the Squirt really packs a lot of tough, functional tools for any occasion. Take it on the road, stuff it into a pocket, throw it in the glove compartment, or take it camping. This little tool is ready to work or play.
Most of the tools are accessible from the outside for ease of operation, and the anodized aluminum handles offer rugged yet lightweight protection for decades of use. A handy lanyard attachment hooks easily to a loop on your backpack or key ring, so go ahead and attach the spring-action Squirt P4 to your key ring or backpack. With three screwdrivers, wire cutters, a knife blade and more, the P4 keeps your on-the-go life going.
Key User Features
The central feature of the Squirt, the pliers, is accessed by rotating the handles open in a quick, easy butterfly maneuver. The blades can be lifted out of the handle using the nail nicks. Just rotate the blades out until they're fully extended.
The blades on the squirt are 100-percent high-grade stainless steel, and it can be cleaned, dried, and re-oiled periodically -- and this is recommended, especially after it's used in a damp environment.

The Leatherman Tool Group and its History of Quality
In 1975, Leatherman Tool Group founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky car on a budget trip to Europe -- and thus the idea for his first pocket survival tool was conceived. Since then, Leatherman has become an internationally recognized company with hundreds of employees and a wide variety of durable, versatile, stylish products. Created with bold designs and truly rugged construction, Leatherman products are a perfect addition for tool kits, emergency sets, and glove compartments everywhere.

All the necessary tools without the junk,
By Tgus "QualityisKey" (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leatherman 80080003K Squirt P4 Storm Gray Multitool with Small Pliers (Tools & Home Improvement)
I owned a Gerber before, so when I went online and looked around, I found myself looking at Leathermans more and more. I've never had a real legitimate problem with Gerber, I just want to test the competition. Before, I always had problems with the leatherman not being as ergonomical as the Gerber, but after viewing this tool, I was confident this one would not have that problem. It didn't. The new leathermans have a great feel, better than my old Gerber (I can't speak for any new models of Gerber).
There are many other models of leatherman, but I absolutely despise having a corkscrew or a toothpick on my multitool. This model contains the necessary tools, not all the gadgets that get broke or never used. I'm don't like 20 lbs strapped to my belt, so size is an issue. It is nicely smaller than the standard multitool, and it more than gets the job done. I wouldn't use it to 16p nails out, but I'm usually not in a situation where I need to pull a 16p nail out when I don't have a hammer/crowbar handy. When you need the Squirt P4 for any of it's features, it's easy to access them, and there aren't any problems with size or strength. It has all the features of a standard multitool in an ergonomical and compact design. I have run into two problems. When I close my leatherman with the pliers going into one side first, it gets stuck beside a flat screwdriver blade. As long as you close it the one way first, no problem. The other problem has to do with twisting the leathman. I think I tried to twist a big chunk of metal and managed to twist the leatherman instead. It was obviously not made to do this and I could probably look into the user's manual and see a big NO-NO picture of what I was doing, but I just wanted to let the consumers know that it is susceptable to it. I just lost my leatherman, so I plan on ordering another one, hopefully this isn't going to be a problem on my next one. I will say, I'm hooked.

Very Impressive Mini Multitool,
By
This review is from: Leatherman 80080003K Squirt P4 Storm Gray Multitool with Small Pliers (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm seldom impressed enough with a product to compel me to write a review; but Leatherman certainly deserves some praise for their Squirt. I'm amazed that there are so many useful tools in such a small package. I wanted a small lightweight multitool for backpacking, and the squirt fit the bill perfectly - only 2 ounces! Despite it's small stature the Squirt is no wimp as the tools perform admirably.
I haven't used the Squirt a lot yet, so I can't comment on the long term reliability and performance; for it's size though it seems quite robust. Leatherman seems to really have their act together. Very smart of them to offer this in various colors and configurations (you have your choice of the model with scissors or pliers). Some reviewers that have criticisms about this tool seem to forget that the Squirt is a mere 2 ounce micro tool (about the weight of $2 worth of quarters), and you cannot expect it to have all of the features or strength of a full size. Some are upset that the Squirt is so small and have unfairly downgraded its rating as a result. The dimensions are clearly stated in the description, so I don't know how anyone can be surprised by its size. It's a keychain size tool, so don't expect to carve out a Mt. Rushmore with the knife! The Squirt is 2 ounce engineering marvel. I liked it so much that I just bought another one as a gift. Disclaimer: I have no affiliations with Leatherman

Great little tool - and I work in an office!,

I originially got this for camping trips, but now I keep this tool in my bag for work. I work in an office, just doing computer work (not IT), so you wouldn't think I'd use it there, but I have found so many uses for it! I've used it to pop keys off the keyboard to clean it, open up the jacks in walls when we're remodeling, filing my nails, cutting open packages, prying out heavy duty staples, repairing my glasses, and so much more. Now that my coworkers know I have it, they want to borrow it.
It has all the tools I need - and nothing I wouldn't need (like a corkscrew). Again, I work in an office, and I just love this tool.
