I owned a Gerber before, so when I went online and looked around, I found myself looking at Leathermans more and more. I've never had a real legitimate problem with Gerber, I just want to test the competition. Before, I always had problems with the leatherman not being as ergonomical as the Gerber, but after viewing this tool, I was confident this one would not have that problem. It didn't. The new leathermans have a great feel, better than my old Gerber (I can't speak for any new models of Gerber).
There are many other models of leatherman, but I absolutely despise having a corkscrew or a toothpick on my multitool. This model contains the necessary tools, not all the gadgets that get broke or never used.
I'm don't like 20 lbs strapped to my belt, so size is an issue. It is nicely smaller than the standard multitool, and it more than gets the job done. I wouldn't use it to 16p nails out, but I'm usually not in a situation where I need to pull a 16p nail out when I don't have a hammer/crowbar handy. When you need the Squirt P4 for any of it's features, it's easy to access them, and there aren't any problems with size or strength. It has all the features of a standard multitool in an ergonomical and compact design.

I have run into two problems. When I close my leatherman with the pliers going into one side first, it gets stuck beside a flat screwdriver blade. As long as you close it the one way first, no problem. The other problem has to do with twisting the leathman. I think I tried to twist a big chunk of metal and managed to twist the leatherman instead. It was obviously not made to do this and I could probably look into the user's manual and see a big NO-NO picture of what I was doing, but I just wanted to let the consumers know that it is susceptable to it. I just lost my leatherman, so I plan on ordering another one, hopefully this isn't going to be a problem on my next one.
I will say, I'm hooked.

I'm seldom impressed enough with a product to compel me to write a review; but Leatherman certainly deserves some praise for their Squirt. I'm amazed that there are so many useful tools in such a small package. I wanted a small lightweight multitool for backpacking, and the squirt fit the bill perfectly - only 2 ounces! Despite it's small stature the Squirt is no wimp as the tools perform admirably.

I haven't used the Squirt a lot yet, so I can't comment on the long term reliability and performance; for it's size though it seems quite robust.

Leatherman seems to really have their act together. Very smart of them to offer this in various colors and configurations (you have your choice of the model with scissors or pliers).

Some reviewers that have criticisms about this tool seem to forget that the Squirt is a mere 2 ounce micro tool (about the weight of $2 worth of quarters), and you cannot expect it to have all of the features or strength of a full size. Some are upset that the Squirt is so small and have unfairly downgraded its rating as a result. The dimensions are clearly stated in the description, so I don't know how anyone can be surprised by its size. It's a keychain size tool, so don't expect to carve out a Mt. Rushmore with the knife!

The Squirt is 2 ounce engineering marvel. I liked it so much that I just bought another one as a gift.

I originially got this for camping trips, but now I keep this tool in my bag for work. I work in an office, just doing computer work (not IT), so you wouldn't think I'd use it there, but I have found so many uses for it! I've used it to pop keys off the keyboard to clean it, open up the jacks in walls when we're remodeling, filing my nails, cutting open packages, prying out heavy duty staples, repairing my glasses, and so much more. Now that my coworkers know I have it, they want to borrow it.

It has all the tools I need - and nothing I wouldn't need (like a corkscrew). Again, I work in an office, and I just love this tool.

I bought a Swiss-tech multitool in addition to the leatherman, as I couldn't initially decide on one. The leatherman is clearly superior. It feels very well made; the pliers really work great. As stated, there isn't a dedicated philips blade, though the straight screwdrivers double to work in philips screws. They'll get the job done in most cases. The only minor gripe I have is that there may be too much in there; I really only need a knife, 1 philips/straight screwdriver, and the pliers. I think that the pliers take up much of the bulk though, so eliminating these other tools wouldn't save much space/weight. If you're concerned about size/weight, and don't need the pliers, you're probably better off with something else (the Utili-key is great); otherwise, the squirt is a nearly perfect keychain tool.

Great MT if you need something tiny and compact yet functional.

This MT is outdated and no longer manufactured. It should be cheaper as a result. The brand new PS4 is cheaper than this one, and more recent. Not to mention a more modern style as well as a bit better thought out. Just my 2 cents.

The Squirt P4 has a decent tool selection and all the tools work very well. Its main shortcomings are in the "fit and finish" department. This thing abounds with edges that haven't been relieved. The heads on the stainless steel rivets that hold the Squirt together have very thin, sharp edges and sit slightly proud of the body--I feel them every time I use the tool.

I've carried P4 on my keyring for about a year and a half (displacing the Victorinox I've carried on there for the last 20+ years)and the cheap metal on the sides of the tool is soft enough that the three keys on my keyring have scarred the edges--creating yet another unpleasant surface I feel every time I use the tool.

So, functionally it is a great tool. On the other hand, its poor fit and finish, and poor choice of materials let it down.

great tool good for key chains. sharp knife, string pliers, good file and small screw drivers. can get all tools without opening pliers.

Convenient when you can't bring along "big brother" due to size or weight. Very nicely made. Amazon's price was half of the price elsewhere.
