When it comes to convenience, it's tough to beat the Squirt S4. This multitool is ultra-compact, super tough, and it weighs just two ounces -- making it the perfect tool to pop into that backpack or slip into those slacks. And for such a tiny unit, the Squirt really packs a lot of tough, functional tools for any occasion. Most of the tools are accessible from the outside for ease of operation, and the anodized aluminum handles offer rugged yet lightweight protection for decades of use. Micro-serrations help the scissors grip and cut even fine materials, and other features -- tweezers, knife, screwdrivers and more -- are all available without opening the tool. And at a mere 2-1/4 inches, this zippy little number does a great job of staying out of the way until you need it. A handy lanyard attachment hooks easily to a loop on your backpack or key ring.

Key User Features

The central feature of the Squirt, the scissors, is accessed by rotating the handles open in a quick, easy butterfly maneuver, and the blades can be lifted out of the handle using the nail nicks. Just rotate the blades out until they're fully extended. The Squirt's blades are 100-percent high-grade stainless steel, and it can be cleaned, dried, and re-oiled periodically -- which is recommended, especially after it's used in a damp environment.

The Squirt S4 also includes a 1-1/2-inch ruler. This is located on the back side of the nail file/cleaner, and it uses the tip of the blade as the zero point.

I love this little Leatherman! I've had mine attached to my keys for about 3 years and it is still going strong. I have the "S4" version with the scissors instead of pliers. When I saw that someone said the Micra was a better value, I had to come to the defense of the Squirt. Take it from someone who knows, the Squirt far surpasses the value of the Micra. I had gone through 2 Micras before I found the Squirt.

--Scissors Spring--
Micra - After a month or two it was so gummed up that the scissors would stay shut and would not open on their own. This was main reason I went through them so fast.
Squirt - Still springing after years, much more force behind this one.

--Scissor Grip--
Micra - When doing some serious cutting, the sharp metal frame and tools will start to slice into your hand.
Squirt - Thicker frame to house the tools on the outside lessens so it will not hurt your hand.

--Paint--
Micra - Start to flake and chip off after a month or so. (If you had to get one, get the stainless steel finish)
Squirt - Storm gray paint has scratched off but no big flakes like the Micra. The paint is bound to go through some serious wear and tear when on a keychain so some scratches are to be expected.

--Size--
Micra - Small
Squirt - Smaller

If you were thinking of getting the Micra, spend the extra 5 bucks and get a knife that is 5 times better.

I debated over the micra, the P4 version, and non-leatherman tools (gerber). I chose this little tool because my co-worker owns it and says he uses it almost every day. I like the scissors as the strongest feature. I wish the knife could be more prominent, but this tool is extremely compact and light-weight. A bigger blade would not serve as many purposes as the sturdy scissors. It feels good on my keychain - not heavy or bulky. The "gray" looks more like stainless steel to me. If you want color, opt for the blue instead. My co-worker has the blue version and it still looks shiny blue when he pulls it out.

At first sight it seemed like a very good pocket tool. Very small and handy and can fit in virtually any size pocket. The blade knife that it comes with is very VERY sharp and i can cut thru almost anything. The scissors are also good as i can cut fishing line and even braided lines with ease as compared to other pocket tools with scissors as a sub tool.

There are however, flaws that i've noticed that makes me regret my purchase. First thing i notice after a couple of usages is that the scissors tend to "stick". The scissors are spring-loaded and therefore retract to original position after u clamp it down. Mine however, tends to stick together in which that i have to unstick them before i can continue cutting. Its a big nuisance because i've tried WD-40 in all the moving parts but it did not seem to help it at all. This is a major downfall to a tool which scissors are its primary function. I cant recommend this tool because this is my second S4 which also sticks just like the first 1 i had received.

Another thing that is a deal breaker is that the bottle opener is junk. I bought this tool mainly for the scissors, but the blade and bottle opener were also taken into consideration as those were the other tools that i was gonna use frequently. The only thing the bottle opener tends to do is shred the bottle cap in half but not actually opening the bottle in the first place. You can actually get cut if u were not paying attention. The bottle cap will split in half,the part u are trying to open, creating a sharp edge which the bottle opener tool will slip off and u can cut ur fingers. I got a lil scratch not too deep but the bottle did not open. Out of the 4 bottles i tried to open, only the 1st one was the easiet, took two tries in two different areas to get it to open. I got a cheapo 5 dollar china made pocket knife with bottle opener that can bust open the caps in 1 try.

The only thing that i find that works and that works well is the blade, however, im not gonna be dropping 23 bucks on just a tiny 1.5 inch blade so im afraid this has to go back. Great idea but poorly executed, but maybe thats the reason why the S4 was discontinued.
