My son wanted this because he wanted to carry a multitool at high school and on a band trip to Spain. He's on the robotics team, so loves having a tool like this, but school rules prohibit knives. This model does not contain a knife blade, so it is school-friendly. Leatherman products are high quality based on past experience, so there was no question in that department.

I got this for my almost 8 year old son so he wouldn't cut his fingers off with the knife part of a Leatherman. He loves it and uses it often for household projects or just horsing around measuring things with the built-in ruler. The construction is very durable and solid-feeling, what you would expect from Leatherman products. Comes in its own leather pouch but it's sometimes hard to orient the thing in there (only fits in one direction and you have to really solidly push it in).

The knifeless Fuse is built with the quality that one expects from Leatherman Tool Group. This model has been discontinued, but fortunately Amazon still had them available. Not having a Leatherman each day just isn't an option, but since I work in a restricted area that doesn't permit knives, I purchased the knifless Fuse. It has an acceptable array of tools including the trademark Leatherman pliers. I definitely recommend this tool.
