My son wanted this because he wanted to carry a multitool at high school and on a band trip to Spain. He's on the robotics team, so loves having a tool like this, but school rules prohibit knives. This model does not contain a knife blade, so it is school-friendly. Leatherman products are high quality based on past experience, so there was no question in that department.

I got this for my almost 8 year old son so he wouldn't cut his fingers off with the knife part of a Leatherman. He loves it and uses it often for household projects or just horsing around measuring things with the built-in ruler. The construction is very durable and solid-feeling, what you would expect from Leatherman products. Comes in its own leather pouch but it's sometimes hard to orient the thing in there (only fits in one direction and you have to really solidly push it in).

The knifeless Fuse is built with the quality that one expects from Leatherman Tool Group. This model has been discontinued, but fortunately Amazon still had them available. Not having a Leatherman each day just isn't an option, but since I work in a restricted area that doesn't permit knives, I purchased the knifless Fuse. It has an acceptable array of tools including the trademark Leatherman pliers. I definitely recommend this tool.

This item has worked for me real well. I work in a correctional facility doing maintenance, so a knife is not permitted in the pods. However the fuse has all the outher features you would want. It is a little stiff opening the pliers, and getting some of the tools out, but i think with use it will work in. The hand grip is easy on the hands, and everythig works fine. This is a good product, i would recomend this to anyone.

I bought this Fuse tool precisely because it has no knife blade. I want to take with me on plane trips, though I have yet to do so. The tools in it all are permitted by US rules, so it should pass through the security check.

The tool itself is just what I expected. There are two minor complaints, not serious enough to reduce my 5-star rating.

(1) Some of the tools have a stiff action and are a little difficult to swing out of the handle into their active positions. I lubricated the whole tool, but that did not solve the problem. The rivet holding them in place must be just a little too tight.

(2) The sheath's top is too short, preventing the sheath from closing when the tool is in it. The female part of the closure snap that is on the flap cannot quite reach the male part on the body of the sheath. I keep the flap closed with a wide rubber band taken from a bunch of broccoli, so the sheath still is useful. Leatherman quality always has been superb, so such a Mickey Mouse sheath is a real shocker.

We purchased this tool for my younger son, who was interested in a pocket tool like the one his older brother had. He was not ready to handle a pocket knife, and we looked everywhere for a tool without a knife. This was the only one we found after on-foot and on-line searching. It has been a great tool. In fact, he just poked his head out of his bedroom asking for it!

Many industrial environments ban knives, instead requiring 'alternative cutting devices'. A multi-tool is way too useful to have to leave at home. Leatherman responded to the need - for a while, but has now discontinued the knifeless line. Fortunately the is some old stock available. Delivered on time and for a good price. A good tool, just a little stiff to open. It should loosen with time.
