It's said that in 1975, company founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky Fiat 600 on a budget trip to Europe and the Middle East. He found his boy-scout knife left him needing more, such as some pliers and a screwdriver or two, and thus the idea for his first pocket multi-tool was conceived. Tim applied for and received the patent for his first multi-tool prototype in 1980, and in 1983 the Leatherman Pocket Survival Tool (PST) was born. The rest is history.

This Leatherman Kick with Micra Multi-tool Combo Pack is more evolutionary than revolutionary, for it's an example of how a company listens to what its customers are looking for, then responds.

I've been fascinated by the Leatherman multi-tools and Gerber's Multi-Plier tools since the early 1990s, and have been picking up various models (both good and bad) over the years to meet changing personal needs. I bought a Leatherman Micra Multitool when it first appeared on the market in 1996. Still have that original version, the classic 100% stainless steel model, a bit scratched now, but every bit as good as it was the day I got it. This is a well-proven pocket multi-tool that will offer you years of great service, and you can see more about it on the separate review that I posted.

The Leatherman Kick Pocket Multi-Tool that comes with this package is a no-nonsense product, one said by some to be the "Leatherman Lite" model, but it's no lightweight when it comes to performance. It's the thinnest regular sized Leatherman multi-tool. The pliers are strong, and with a nice grip, but have a narrower shape and lighter weight than some of the larger Leatherman models, and the head of these pliers seems to 'get in there' where some of the others would be too wide. It also seems to be perfect for medium or smaller hands, so it might be the perfect first quality multi-tool for kids.

The Kick has Zytel handle inserts, which gives this multi-tool a comfortable and reliable grip. It also seems to be perfect for medium or smaller hands, so it might be the perfect first quality multi-tool for kids. The indentations in the handles seem to add to the gripping power.

Speaking of gripping (and this is not meant to sound like a slur), this Leatherman multi-tool is far better than some of the cheap 'Made in China' copycat tools found on the market today. I had been given one and was using the pliers when they broke, pinching the skin on my hand and resulting in a nasty cut and a very bruised palm. IMHO, the lesson here is to avoid the junk copies and stick with a proven product made by Leatherman, Gerber or Victorinox. Enough said on this.

In any case, this is an excellent package, good for someone wanting to get some decent American-made multi-tools or as a gift for someone special. And if you didn't know, all Leatherman products have a 25-year limited warranty, making this 5-star package even better.

I purchased this Leatherman Micra (packaged as a set along with the Kick) to replace the Micra I had and lost. It is a VERY handy little pocket tool that I've used countless times. It is an exceptionally well made quality product. I have had a Leatherman Super Tool for over 15 years that is exceptional to say the least. It has seen a lot of use and is as good as the day I got it, both in terms of looks & quality funtionality.

When I was shopping around for the Micra, I couldn't find it from any local retailers, as all were out of stock, or no longer carrying it. I found it on Amazon for a better deal packaged with the Kick than anything I'd come across. It was a GREAT BUY!!! I essentially bought this pair for only $7 more than what I was seeing the Micra alone for anywhere else, and got the added bonus of the Kick & it's holster to boot! I highly recommend both of these tools for their very high quality and seemingly unlimited uses. I've owned a couple of other brands of multi-tools, but none are nearly as good as Leatherman products. You can't go wrong, especially with this deal that Amazon is offering. But it! You won't be sorry.

Although this isn't a WAVE it is still a wonderful product. The Kick is well put together. The knife is very sharp. It isn't so stiff that I have trouble getting the knife/screwdrivers/etc out nor do I need to worry about cutting my finger off trying to force the blade back in (as I nearly did with a cheaper multi-tool). The Micra is (as it has always been) a great tool for my purse.

The Micra is the best of the two but the Kick isn't too bad. Kick definately isn't the highest quality of the Leatherman line-up but not too shaby. Packaged differently than shown, not that it matters.

Gave the mini to adult daughter. She loved it and is adding it to her photo bag stuff. It's a Leatherman. Nuff said.

Bought a few of these leathermans recently

they go perfectly together. I particularily like the micra - so versatile for something so small!!

the pliers are great on the kick, and the other tools are most useful.

Both knives are well made and faultless - all my friends want one!

i bought this package primarily for the micra, and the micra is great, not to large, good quality and easy to use. the kick...not so much, just a basic multi-tool, not very strong, but it gets the job done. micra - 5 stars, kick - 4 stars

The leatherman Kick is not the best multitool available, but its more than enough for most people and the micra is great for carrying around. Very convenient for folks who routinely carry a multitool and if you dont, perhaps getting this set will make you start.

My only beef is the set comes in a plastic bubble pack which is a pain to get open. I wish it was just a small carboard box instead. Other than that its fantastic.
Highly recommended for everyone. Housewives. Cops. Gunsmiths. Cub scouts.
If you dont like having the big one on your belt just leave it in the glove compartment.

This was a great bundle to get a medium-sized multi-tool, plus the bonus Micra, which is on my key chain. I use the Micra more often than I thought I would (opening boxes, packages, etc). It has replaced my Swiss Army Knife. The Kick is also extremely useful for boating and fishing.

I bought this mainly to replace the Leatherman Micra that I lost. It is a great tool to carry like a pocketknife all the time. The full size Leatherman Kick that came with for about $10 more is a bonus!
