Leather sheath is durable and attractive.,

This review is from: Leatherman 934846 Premium Leather Sheath for Charge (Tools & Home Improvement)
I upgraded from the nylon to the leather sheath because I wanted the durability of leather and the beefy metal snap. I was concerned to find that the side panels are elastic material, not leather, just like the nylon case. I fear that the long term durability of the elastic will not be as good as leather. I've used this case for almost 3 years, however, without incident and have to admit that the elastic side panels make the tool much easier to remove and replace from that case than would be the case if it were solid leather all around so in the end I must say "so far so good". Like the nylon case the leather one holds a single tray of bits and the tool. The hole at the bottom allows you to place the tool in the case when the pliers are opened - a nice feature.
Follow-up 8/08 (22 months later): I wear my Charge on my belt every day with this case and it's held up well. My concern was the elastic side panels - but these are still strong and do the job. The elastic side panels are a real convenience because they let you slip the tool in and out easily. The only real sign of wear is the snap, which has become a tad loose, but not yet a problem. All in all, this is an excellent case which is wearing very well.

I bought this item to use with my Leatherman CX Skeletool and very happy with both.I work in the trades and am very hard on my tools.I needed durability which is why I chose the leather sheath and was pleasantly suprised at the quality and thickness of it.Did not expect the elastic sides but beleive it's an overall advantage.I am tempted to buy a spare set.

The nylon sheath that originally came with my Charge STi finally wore through the bottom (after about 18 months). I ordered the leather version to see if it would last longer in daily abuse. It is better looking than the fabric version. It fits very snugly now, which is what I expect from a new leather item. It has been slowly loosening up. I don't think I would store spare bits in it until it streches a bit more. I think they would be tough to extract. The sides of the sheath are an elastic fabric and shouldn't see too much wear..
