4.0 out of 5 stars Leather sheath is durable and attractive.
I upgraded from the nylon to the leather sheath because I wanted the durability of leather and the beefy metal snap. I was concerned to find that the side panels are elastic material, not leather, just like the nylon case. I fear that the long term durability of the elastic will not be as good as leather. 1.0 out of 5 stars a premium leather sheath made almost entirely of codura!
ordered this item and when it arrived it was nothing like as described here. had the same item #, but was a cordura sheath with a little leather flap. not even the metal nameplate was there, but a little burned in brand in its place. apparently the all leather sheath is no longer being made? amazon offered a refund but not the correct item.

beware guys!

I upgraded from the nylon to the leather sheath because I wanted the durability of leather and the beefy metal snap. I was concerned to find that the side panels are elastic material, not leather, just like the nylon case. I fear that the long term durability of the elastic will not be as good as leather. I've used this case for almost 3 years, however, without incident and have to admit that the elastic side panels make the tool much easier to remove and replace from that case than would be the case if it were solid leather all around so in the end I must say "so far so good". Like the nylon case the leather one holds a single tray of bits and the tool. The hole at the bottom allows you to place the tool in the case when the pliers are opened - a nice feature.

Follow-up 8/08 (22 months later): I wear my Charge on my belt every day with this case and it's held up well. My concern was the elastic side panels - but these are still strong and do the job. The elastic side panels are a real convenience because they let you slip the tool in and out easily. The only real sign of wear is the snap, which has become a tad loose, but not yet a problem. All in all, this is an excellent case which is wearing very well.

I bought this item to use with my Leatherman CX Skeletool and very happy with both.I work in the trades and am very hard on my tools.I needed durability which is why I chose the leather sheath and was pleasantly suprised at the quality and thickness of it.Did not expect the elastic sides but beleive it's an overall advantage.I am tempted to buy a spare set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Replacement for the original, September 27, 2007

This review is from: Leatherman 934846 Premium Leather Sheath for Charge (Tools & Home Improvement)
The nylon sheath that originally came with my Charge STi finally wore through the bottom (after about 18 months). I ordered the leather version to see if it would last longer in daily abuse. It is better looking than the fabric version. It fits very snugly now, which is what I expect from a new leather item. It has been slowly loosening up. I don't think I would store spare bits in it until it streches a bit more. I think they would be tough to extract. The sides of the sheath are an elastic fabric and shouldn't see too much wear..

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits the Wave too, September 6, 2009

The item description says this is for the Charge, so I just wanted to let everyone know that it's a good snug fit for the Wave as well. I bought this as a replacement for an identical one. The old one finally gave out and tore the elastic --but it took about five years of abuse before that happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable, December 6, 2009

Been using this now for over a year with my Skeletol CX and the 40 bit set. All fits snugly in the sheath without a problem.

After a year the leather has taken on the "used" look which I really enjoy.

I did need to remove the belt clip from my leatherman for it to all fit, but since I'm using a sheath that didn't matter.

It's great having such a selection of tools in one place on your belt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cover the Metal Name Plate, June 13, 2008
By
This review is from: Leatherman 934846 Premium Leather Sheath for Charge (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have used this leather case since December '05 with my leatherman and the only complaint that I have is the name plate is made of a soft metal that leave marks on walls. I wear this case on my belt on my right side (being right handed) and I was always brushing up against walls and leaving marks to show where I had been. I covered it with a wrap around piece of black electrical tape and haven't had any more problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leatherman Sheath, April 7, 2008

This leather sheath will last two year of heavy usage.
My husband uses his everyday, and works at the plant. Opening and closing it often caused it to stretch and wear off the leather. This is why we bought a replacement. For the price it is way worth it. The only problem is the metal applique that scratched, or scuffs white surfaces. If used on our boat, we usually put some tape over it.
