I must admit, I have spent a LOT of money on knives in my younger years, I was stuck on Benchmade for quite a while especially. However, as I have grow older and my priorities changed (Hint.. KIDS). I am no longer going to spend 150 dollars on a knife that I will probably lose anyway. This Leatherman Knife is perfect. Less then 40 bucks.. has a bottle opener, which is used more then anything for..uh... beverages, has a combo blade and two screwdrivers. This is one of those knives I ALWAYS have on me nowadays. The screwdrivers are tough and the right size for most jobs around the house. It isn't too thick at all, which was my original fear when first buying. The absolute best thing about this knife is the Blade opener assist mechanism. Once you use it you will never go back to another blade assist system. Leatherman really got it right on this one. For the regular ol 'Dad' out there, who isn't trying to be a tactical Rambo type, this is the best Every Day Carry knife you can own in my opinion. Especially if you do NOT want to lug a full size Leatherman around on your belt or pocket.

This is a really good knife. I had a similar earlier model from Leatherman and found it to be perfect for my needs. I didn't want a knife that has all the tools known to man. But the two screwdrivers and the carabiner/bottle opener, along with the half straight/half serrated blade make for a really useful tool. But, I give it only 4 stars for one serious flaw over the earlier model. The flaw is how utterly stiff it is to open. In fact, we needed a tool to open the flat screwdriver, because it was an absolute nail breaker at best, but was actually impossible to open. Once opened, we lubricated it with a machine oil, which seemed to enable opening it without the need for another tool. Really.... how stupid is that? But, when I woke up this morning, it was practically impossible to open again, so I lubed it with a graphite lube. I've been working it over and over. Time will tell if this thing actually loosens up.

I'm one of the very few women I know who actually carries a pocket knife. I don't keep my nails all manicured and long and polished. I like my nails to be short and strong so they don't get in the way of what I do, which is mostly photography and keyboarding at a computer. So, if you're a women with big nails who is considering a pocket knife, you should probably steer clear of this one. If nails are not your concern, then this is a great little tool to carry around.

Just traded up from a previous leatherman knife ive used for years. they hold up stong, never loosen, and take a beating. I'm hoping the same goes for this one., so far so good. Love the screwdrivers. the knife is thin enough that it isnt a pain in the pocket.

Love this knife. I work in product testing and use the blade and screwdrivers daily. Bottle opener is key for obvious reasons, but I also use the carabiner function to hold my wedding ring when I play golf.
Blade launcher is great (on some, I have had other versions of this same knife where the blade launcher is not so great).
Black oxide color is nice, but is not worth the extra money over the standard color.
Highly recommended.

Joints were a little gritty at first but that loosened up quickly. The blade was crazy sharp at first and still holds a decent edge considering how much I've used it. The screwdrivers "snap" open, so there's no manual lock but they are very solid. There is a liner lock on the blade that is trustworthy and the blade launcher has been much improved over the years. I've had several iterations of this knife Over the past 7 or 8 years and I only ever paid for two: the first one that was replaced (after I broke it) at least twice by Leatherman's excellent warranty program, and then this particular model after I lost my original (several time replaced) knife. If I had to have one suggestion, I wish the carabiner open prevented the blade from opening, though that may not work for someone else's particular application. Also the black coating does wear a little, but so will the silver finish of the other version. I've owned both. Neither was a big deal. It's called patina, folks, and it's what makes grandpa's personal effects so special to grandson when he inherits them.

These are great knives, I carry mine everywhere. I don't know how many trips to the barn the Phillips and slot screwdrivers have saved me, but it's a lot. The screwdrivers are still in good shape and are not getting rounded off. This is my third one ( lost the other two outside, I'm pretty sure I just left them somewhere); the clip is good and holds the knife securely. However, I have had to put a little loctite on the clip screws and tighten them back up. It gets wet from water and sweat all the time and the finish is still good. Definitely recommended over a simple lockback knife. For whatever reason, these are hard to find in stores; Gander Mountain used to carry them but not any more so I bought the last two on Amazon.
