This is a great multitool for a beginner I highly recommend it.

While there are larger and smaller multi-tools available, this size seems perfect for my every day use.

The sprung pliers are great, and the tool snaps shut as authoritatively as tools costing twice as much.

While there are larger and smaller multi-tools available, this size seems perfect for my every day use. For a survival situation you might want a larger one, but this size seems perfect for me to loop through my belt.

I noticed that one review said that it does not have a sheath - that's true, but you can buy a nice nylon sheath with a belt loop and velcro closure for only $5.00.
For frequent use, it does have a clip on it if you just wanted to clip it to your belt.

- The knife is extremely sharp - I've never had such a sharp blade. I like that it can be opened without opening up the tool.It also locks into place.
- The scissors do have a spring, but you have to lock them into place for it to work.
- The pliers also have a spring so it's easier to open and close them. You can also cut wire.
- They also have a tool called a package opener - for those hard plastic containers that many things are packaged in these days. I haven't given it a try, but it could be very useful.
- The screw drivers might be helpful in certain situations if you have the right size of screws.

In summary, I'm very happy with this purpose and carry this tool with me all the time.

Note - there's a nice review on Youtube - just do a search for Leatherman Wingman Multitool - it's done by X4CTO. He compare the Wingman vs the Wave.

This is a great and versatile multi-tool! Leatherman is a name you can trust and the Wingman doesn't break the bank either for only around $22 dollars you will love owning one, I sure do! This multi-tool would make a great gift for family or friends and will come in useful for your everyday tasks. Although it can feel a little heavy, the weight is not too bad and you can easily live with it. The only downside is the multi-tool does not come with a carrying case or pouch and must be bought separately. Other than the pouch issue this is a great pocket sized tool! 5 out of 5 stars.

I own a Leatherman Wingman and a Leatherman Wave.

Call me crazy, but for every day purposes, I like the Wingman better. It's not as tough as the Wave, but it's tough enough for anything I'm likely to throw at it. And, everything on the Wingman opens up easier. The Wave is typical Leatherman quality, which means that everything is hard as heck to deploy. Not so with the Wingman. I don't have to struggle with the Wingman to pull out any of the tools.

At this pricepoint, everyone should own a Wingman!!!

## Praises

- It's made of 420HC stainless steel.

- There's no coating/finish to rub off, which means it will maintain a nice finish over time.

- There's a nice amount of tension in the spring-loaded needle-nose pliers. It feels good to close and open the pliers.

## Criticisms

- Testing the wingman out of the box, I found that the main plier bolt had some play in it. This causes the two halves of the tool to shift back and forth, and makes the needlenose pliers wobbly when you're trying to grab something small. I contacted Leatherman's customer support, and they told me there is some expected play in the pliers caused by the spring action. They said if it inhibits use, I can return to it Amazon.

I lost an original Wave and picked up the Wingman on sale at Homedepot after Christmas for $20 including a Style CS so in that regards it was too good to pass up. But after using it for more than a year, I'm thinking that for most people it might be the perfect tool. I use the knife and pliers multiple times a day and have no complaint. The pliers are spring loaded so they always return to the open position. I can't remember if the Wave had that function but it's something I find extremely helpful. The "package opener" tool meant to open fused hard plastic wrapped consumer goods, which I thought at first would be worthless, has been used so often I can't imagine using a normal knife for the same operation. And the 2 screwdrivers have been able to fulfill most of my impromptu fixing needs.

To be honest about the only thing I really miss from the much more expensive Wave is the file. The Wingman has a small, simple, one sided file that isn't worthless but it doesn't compare to larger, dual sided, diamond coated file on the Wave.

Bottom line, if it's your first (or in my case second) multitool you can't go wrong. It would also make a nice gift that shouldn't make the recipient turn up his nose.

A friend recommended this multitool and I regret not buying it sooner, my previous 30 dollar multitool broke and I got this not only as a replacement but as an upgrade, if you're thinking that this will be crap because of the price, sir or madam you are wrong this wingman will take beating after beating and it will work, so if you're on the fence about buying trust me you will not find a better $20 dollar multitool better than the wingman.
