It is certainly a joy to all Beaver fans to see this excellent series return so quickly with the second season. Many of the same endearing characters are present with brand new, hilarious adventures. For those of you who are interested, I have compiled a list of the episodes and a short summary of each. Enjoy!

1. Beaver's Poem (10/2/1958)

When Beaver has trouble with a poetry assignment, Ward decides to help the Beav by writing the poem himself. However, when Beaver wins an award for the poem, Ward must explain what happened to the principal. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

2. Eddie's Girl (10/9/1958)

Eddie's alleged girlfriend falls in love with Wally. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

3. Ward's Problem (10/16/1958)

Ward must decide to spend the weekend either with Beaver on a school function or with Wally on a fishing trip; Beaver thinks that Ward will spend the weekend with Wally and proceeds to invent a wild tale to explain Ward's absence to his school friends. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

4. Beaver and Chuey (10/23/1958)

When Beaver meets a new friend that only speaks Spanish, he asks Eddie to help him communicate with him. However, Eddie decides to play a cruel joke on Beaver. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

5. The Lost Watch (10/30/1958)

When Beaver is put in charge of guarding everyone's belongings during a baseball game, Lumpy accuses Beaver of loosing his watch. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

6. Her Idol (11/6/1958)

When Beaver becomes close friends with a girl in school, his friends bully him into insulting her. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

7. Beaver's Ring (11/13/1958)

When Beaver is given an old, treasured ring, he promptly disobeys his parents and takes it to school. His transgression is discovered when he cannot get the ring to come of. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

8. The Shave (11/20/1958)

Wally has decided that he should start shaving like his friends. However, Ward disapproves and humiliates him in front of everyone. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

9. The Pipe (11/27/1958)

Larry and Beaver try to smoke the pipe that was given to Ward as a present. Ward, however, suspects that Wally is the guilty party. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

10. Wally's New Suit (12/4/1958)

Ward and June allow Wally to buy his new suit, with disastrous consequences. Wally brings home the most tasteless suit he can find. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

11. School Play (12/11/1958)

Beaver is to play a Canary in his school production. However, it seems that he has absolutely no talent and Ward's well meant words of encouragement only make his dread worse. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

12. The Visiting Aunts (12/18/1958)

Wally and Beaver are overjoyed when the day arrives that Ward has promised to take them to the Carnival. However, their joy is quickly ended by visiting relatives. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

13. Happy Weekend (12/25/1958)

The whole family decides that it is time to get away and enjoy the "great outdoors." Their elation is short lived when they find out that their cabin lacks all the modern conveniences. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

14. Wally's Present (1/1/1959)

When Beaver thinks that Wally is not going to invite him to his birthday party, he spends all his money on himself and buys Wally the cheapest gift he can find. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

15. The Grass is Always Greener (1/8/1959)

Beaver and Wally realize that they have much to be grateful for when they befriend the children of a garbage man. (Overall episode rating : 3 stars.)

16. The Boat Builders (1/15/1959)

After disobeying their parents and sailing on the lake in their homemade boat, Beaver and Wally try to cover up their transgression, which is no easy task considering Beaver fell in the lake and is soaked. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

17. Beaver Plays Hooky (1/22/1959)

Beaver and Larry skip school, believing that their parents will never find out. However, they are caught on a live television show which June happens to be watching. (Overall rating : 5 stars.)

18. The Garage Painters (1/29/1959)

Ward decides that Beaver and Wally should read one of his old books, Tom Sawyer. Needless to say, Wally and the Beav take the book a little too seriously and soon get into trouble. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

19. Wally's Pug Nose (2/5/1959)

When a girl at Wally's school informs him that he has a pug nose, Wally decides to do something about it. He immediately purchases a strange contraption that is supposed to give him a Roman nose. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

20. Beaver's Pigeons (2/12/1959)

Wally takes care of Beaver's beloved pet pigeons when the Beav becomes sick. Soon, Wally discovers that the pigeons are also ailing. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

21. The Tooth (2/19/1959)

Beaver is terrified after listening to his classmate's chilling stories about the horrific drill that his dentist is going to use. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

22. Beaver Gets Adopted (2/26/1959)

Beaver becomes upset when Ward accuses him of deliberately breaking Wally's trophy. He decides that it is time he acquired new parents; therefore, he proceeds to go to an adoption agency, with hilarious and heartwarming consequences. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

23. The Haunted House (3/5/1959)

Beaver is convinced that Mrs. Cooper's house is haunted by a witch. His terror becomes unbearable when June gets him a job walking Mrs. Cooper's dog. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

24. The Bus Ride (3/12/59)

When Beaver and Wally set off on a bus trip to Crystal Falls, Beaver gets off at the wrong place and then boards the wrong bus, which sends him back home. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

25. Beaver and Gilbert (3/19/1959)

Beaver befriends the new neighbor's child who tells wild stories that Beaver accepts as truth. (Overall episode rating: 3 stars.)

26. Price of Fame (3/26/1959)

After listening to his classmate's outrageous stories, Beaver becomes convinced that his teacher has a spanking machine hidden in her closet. He decides to stay behind after school and see the legendary machine which results in disaster and is one of the best Beaver episodes ever done! (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

27. A Horse Named Nick (4/2/1959)

After working for a circus, Beaver and Wally are given a horse in payment, which they proceed to hide in the garage. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

28. Beaver's Hero (4/9/1959)

Beaver discovers that Ward was in World War II and proceeds to tell his class that his father was a renowned war hero. However, he soon realizes that Ward did not actually fight in the war. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

29. Beaver Says Goodbye (4/16/1959)

When Beaver believes that his family is going to move, his classmates throw him a farewell party and give him heaps of presents. Unfortunately, the deal on the new house falls through and Beaver must give back his presents. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

30. Beaver's Newspaper (4/23/1959)

Beaver and Wally fight over the rights to an old typewriter they found while cleaning the garage. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

31. Beaver's Sweater (4/30/1959)

Beaver demands that Ward and June buy him the new sweater he has just seen. After finally attaining it, he wears it to school only once where he sees a girl in his class wearing the same sweater. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

32. Friendship (5/7/1959)

When Ward patches up an argument between Beaver and Larry, Beaver and Larry swear that they would die for each other. Larry then proceeds to demand that Beaver give him his homework, to prove their friendship. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

33. Dance Contest (5/14/1959)

After being invited to go to the cotillion with a girl from his class, Wally must learn to dance. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

34. Wally's Haircomb (5/21/1959)

Ward and June are dismayed when they see Wally's new and very bad hairdo. Is there anything they can do to convince him that his new hair is atrocious? (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

35. The Cookie Fund (5/28/1959)

Beaver and Larry are put in charge of the cookie fund at their school. As can be expected, a new kid takes their money and leaves them in trouble. (Overall episode rating : 4 stars.)

36. Forgotten Party (6/4/1959)

When Beaver is invited to a party by an old friend, he joyously accepts, and then forgets about the party entirely. On the day when he is supposed to arrive, his family makes a desperate attempt to locate him in time. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

37. Beaver the Athlete (6/11/1959)

Beaver wants to become an Athlete and signs up for a school baseball game. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

38. Found Money (6/18/1959)

Searching for a clever way to acquire money so that they might go to the carnival, Larry steals his mother money and tells Beaver that he found it. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

39. Most Interesting Character (6/25/1959)

When Beaver receives a school assignment to write about the most interesting person he knows, he questions if his father is simply to boring to write about. (Overall episode rating : 5 stars.)

In my opinion, season two is one of the best seasons of Leave it to Beaver. Most of the episodes were worthy of five stars and despite the passage of time, the hilarious incidents that continually befell the Beaver are just as funny and heartwarming today as they were in the fifties. Truly, this show is timeless. I highly recommend it!

I've been a fan of this series from the moment it debuted in 1957, and loved practically every show produced. I equate this show as comfort food for the soul. I loved watching the boys (and parents grow) over the years, and loved every minute of it. Yes...it's true...how many mothers actually wore pearls around the house? During the 50's my mom's dress of choice was a Muu Muu...but the casting of this show was superb...from all the parents..the boys....which I felt acted like real boys of the 50's and early 60's....their friends.. we all had friends like these...Eddie Haskell....what an inspired character!...the list just goes on and on..Lumpy, Gus, Gilbert, Larry Mrs. Landers......etc. etc....... they all fit...and invited us as friends each week......

The bottom line is, that when I watch most "modern" televsion these days.. I walk away from them feeling dirty, and feel that I can't sit comfortably watching them with my family....I get sick of the sexual innuendo...and mean spirited "jokes"

HOWEVER, I always have a warm glow after watching a Beaver episode...yes...a lot of it's hokey..but it's GREAT hokiness.... the show doesn't have to resort to crude ugly scripts for a cheap laugh...it does it with great writing, directing, and most of all believable actors...

I grew up watching this show..and it brings back some very poignant memories... I just wish I could rate this with more than 5 stars...

I have the first box set, and plan on getting ALL the seasons...try it...you'll love it...you won't ever find shows of this quality again on TV....... these are a real treasure!!

So many great shows get a few seasons released and then they stop!??? This is only one of them. The Partridge Family, Night Gallery, Happy Days and Laverne $ Shirley to name a few. Please finish what you stated. Finish Beaver and More! Where is Father Knows Best, The Donna Reed Show? The list could go on and on. :-(.......... Beaver is easily one of the best shows of it's time. It's a classic! I want some more Beaver! ;-b

A great show, but the Season 2 set, as good as it is, is hampered by the "Universal DVD Release Syndrome." In a word: A W F U L. Poor transfer, poor....no use listing them all again....poor everything.

As for Season 3 - where is it? Answer: There won't be a Season 3. They have done the exact same thing with other great shows. A season or two and then - no more. "Dragnet 1968" for example, the classic series with Jack Webb & Harry Morgan - One Season and out.

Universal needs new management of their DVD division as the complaints are far and wide and LOUD. I simply don't understand why they don't listen.

It's such a shame as LITB is such a classic television series that deserved so much more than what Universal delivered - and then dropped.

Once again, a great show has been been butchered by Universal.

There's nothing I can add to previous reviews regarding this most perfect example of sitcoms from the 50s/60s that hasn't been said already. There is plenty I can say about Uniserval however... without a doubt the worst of all DVD producers for the following reasons:

[1] Low, low quality transfers. I don't think I've ever bought any DVD released by Universal wherein images didn't freeze or screw up on one way or another.

[2] Double-sided discs with side identification print so small, you never know which side you are putting on.

[3] Virtually no documentation or bonus material, when plenty is available.

...and perhaps most importantly...

[4] WHY IS SEASON 3 NOT BEING RELEASED!?

For those of us old enough to remember watching this show in "real time" Universal's decision to hold back on releasing the final four seasons risks losing its audience. After all, we are all growing older with each day that passes and I sometimes wonder whether I'll live long enough to ever see the entire series reach the light of day on DVD.

It's been more than a year since the issuance of the second season. I intended to purchase all of the seasons. Just like the previous reviewer, where is season three and the rest of the seasons? You can't just stop producing the very best family comedy series within the history of television. No sex. No violence. Just good and clean '50's and very early '60's family entertainment. I'm both asking you and telling you to continue producing the series on DVD.

I love the innocence of this show. It's a great hit with my children and I don't have to worry about them picking up bad habits that I later have to try to correct.

Content wise, the 2nd Season of LITB is great. But once again, Universal has dropped the ball in terms of the quality of the product, and it's not significantly better than Season 1. The video transfer still has excessive noise and there are no special features. This time there are chapter stops in each episode, but only so you can skip the opening credits, jump midway to the commerical break, and go to the end credits. Come on, Universal, it wouldn't kill you to put a few more chapters in each episode. As I noted in my review of Season 1, with so many cast members alive, it would have been great to get a few commentaries...but we get none. And once again, you get 3 double-sided DVD-18s, instead of 6 easier to handle one-sided DVD-9s. The outstanding "I Love Lucy" sets from Paramount set the bar for the right way to do a classic TV series -- great transfers, extra features, solid packaging. Too bad Universal is too cheap or too lazy to compete. If you're a Beav fan, you'll have to get this. Just don't expect the definitive set that this should have been.

It is still enjoyable after all these years to watch the Cleaver Family. Taking place in the late 50s, it truely shows what was considered to be idealistic america at that period of time.
This is a great series to show to kids, and to have even us old folks have a good laugh. I would have never dreamed in the 60s of owning complete TV series or movies to be watched (on Video or better yet DVD) whenever you choose! The quality of the picutre and sound on this series is outstanding when considering it's age.

In every season of Leave it to beaver the shows just got better and better and I am happy that it LITB is finally out on DVD. I am curious as to when season 3 is going to be released now that season 2 has long been released. There is usually a 6 month at the most time frame between released but it seems as though Leave it to Beaver has been pushed back even longer. I am just thrilled that these shows are now on DVD for all of us to enjoy but I wish the price of these sets were more affordable. I know of several other classics that are a little less expensive than LITB and wish that this set was more affordable because it would sell better and hopefully Universal would understand that we are serious about owning all of the seasons of LITB. No matter what the price,,, I still would buy all of these seasons but they should take the price in to consideration.
