Biography

ARCTIC MONKEYS RETURN

Since recording their last album and during the course of over two years, the boys had become accustomed to the routines of their everyday lives. With writing and recording paused, Nick, Matt, Jamie and Alex were each able to indulge in their own bespoke approach to enjoying life in their early twenties.

Matt, ever the sophisticate, had settled back into life in Sheffield… Read more in Amazon's Arctic Monkeys Store

Editorial Reviews

"Leave Before The Lights Come On" was a highlight of their recent US tour, offering fans a taster for its eventual release. The song shows the band taking some stylistic chances, with a surf melody motif that kicks off before they settle into an unmistakably Arctics groove and lyrical sentiment. The two b-sides are covers: The Little Flames' "Put Your Dukes Up", and the 60's Barbara Lewis chestnut "Baby, I'm Yours", performed with The 747s. Watch for the new video starring Paddy Considine (In America) and Kate Ashfield (Shaun Of The Dead). --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs, but not worth the price, December 24, 2006

This review is from: Leave Before the Lights Come on (Audio CD)
Amazing new songs! All three of these songs are great in their own respective ways, but the whole product is not worth such a price. I highly recommend getting these songs, including "Baby I'm Yours" (which is a great cover), but go buy these songs off iTunes and save yourself a few dollars.

4.0 out of 5 stars PROBABLY THE BEST SINGLE!!!!!, October 31, 2006
it really a good song!!! plus the two b-sides are way nice and worth it!!! but come on the video could have been added on at least as a bonus track (maybe a us exclusive) cause the price kind of leans on (not worth the extra p) but good song plus to see video (kate ashfield :shaun of the dead: is on it!!!) you can view at their site

3.0 out of 5 stars Leave Before The Lights Come On, January 7, 2009
By
"Leave Before The Lights Come On" was the first release after Arctic Monkey's extremely popular debut album, Whatever You Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. The song itself doesn't quite sound like anything on the album, but more so than the two b-sides that were included with the single, "Put Your Dukes Up John" and a cover of Barbara Lewis' 1965 hit "Baby I'm Yours." If you're really into the band I'm sure you'd really appreciate these songs, but if you haven't heard either of their full-length albums, don't judge them by these songs. The songs all seem light, friendly, and even somewhat soft, words I wouldn't normally use to describe the band. I'm not trying to make this a completely negative review because quite honestly, these songs are not bad. What I'm trying to say is that you may be surprised by the way they sound if you're used to hearing songs like "When The Sun Goes Down" and "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor."
