soca + rupee,
By "j-jao" (the bay area, California, USA) - See all my reviews

this album is tight. i put it in and before long, the whole album was played through. the songs go by THAT quickly. if you're a fan of soca, this is it. rupee has a sultry voice that is presented in all the tracks, and man! he is HOT! (not that it matters)tempted 2 touch is a great song. there is no need to say it, since everyone who has reviewed has commented on it, but the beats are there, the tune is there, and it is perfect!

Rupee will take soca mainstream!!!!,

In light of reggae musics recent breakthrough into the international market with Sean Paul....I think Rupee is the answer to the "who will be the superstar to take soca music to that next level?" question.....He is no fly by night and is easily one of the or the most popular entertainer on the circuit right now... Not only does he possess amazing talent through the ability to write, sing and even produce some of his music....he also possesses that star quality that the soca industry needs to take it to the next level....he has stage presence, charisma an amazing stage performance,... P>His cross section appeal is amazing too...he is the number one loved artisist among children, he's loved by thugs, adored by women and even loved by old people....rich, poor...whoever His newest album is de bomb!!!!! Literally, like his last album, every song is a hit!!! From the erotic, sensual melodies of Tempted to Touch and thats where I'll be, to the frenzied energy of Rugged Style and Festival...all the way accross to the dramatic and emotional I'm Tired and powerful She's a woman.... The concept and theme of the album....with the voicemail, though used before, is very refreshing to a soca album particularly.... The song to watch is "Tempted to Touch"....mark my words...this is gonna be an international hit!!!

This is a great CD but all the radio interludes are annoying. Some advice for Rupee don't let the talk promote the music, let your talent do that!
The hitz are: (2) Till' Morning (3) Tempted 2 Touch, (5) Frenmy and my favorite (9) This is Festival (13) No More

From TAZMANIAN DEVILRupee's Leave A Message album in my eyes is a double platinum record he's made. This sophomore album Rupee has grown and just sang reality and grabbed every audience. That is one thing about Rupee from a child to and adult his music is to plese the family and I definetly five him a two thumbs up! Songs like Frenemy if you listen to the lyrics its true..people will smile in you face and stab you in the back... In spite of everything Rupee is grounded and humble and keeps it real!!!! Tazmanian Devil!!!! I love his music and once you hear it, the cd will not get out of my changer.....it becomes a ritual!!!!!:)

Finally a cd I can listen to over and over again and never tire from. Being a West Indian I grew up listening to Calypso~Soca~Reggae so I am so familiar with the music.
Rupee is one of the hottest artist out and I can't wait for his next cd. For those who are not familiar with this type of music give Rupee a try, I promise You won't be disappointed.

Rupee's excellent music once again.,

Following in the footsteps of Rupee's debut solo album, Blame It On The Music, Leave A Message makes you wish the answering machine never runs out of tape because the music is just so good. Whilst many of the songs sample older hits, he masterfully recreates them with lyrics and rhythms that reflect the frenzied atmosphere surrounding Caribbean soca music. A subtle reggae beat can also be heard on some of the slower tracks like Girlfriend and She's a Winner. I listen to this CD in the car, at home, and especially love it when it blasts from some powerful speakers in a carnival party...you'll get Festival Fever and want to Jump Up Till Morning. And did I mention that the lyrics are great and you'll want to sing them?

The CD is very good. It's different from his first, but you definitely know it's him. All the songs have very nice dance beats as usual. My favorite song on this CD is Tempted to touch.
