A terrific suspense novel with an interesting "could happen here" premise. Can't wait to see what Overbeck comes out with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leave No Child Behind by R. Overbeck is a page turning suspense thriller That will Leave you wanting more!, May 13, 2011
This review is from: Leave No Child Behind (Paperback)
Leave No Child Behind by R. Overbeck is a page turning suspense thriller That will Leave you wanting more!

Dee Dee Sterber, a teacher, a passionate teacher returns to her hometown to teach but ends up in a situation where she finds herself in a threatening position defending and protect her students.

In a nearby maximum security prison, a terrorist cell and takes the High School hostage in an attempt to free a terrorist currently held by the US Government. Dee Dee and her one partner, Jerod, seem to be the schools only hope.

With no communication from the outside, Dee Dee and her partner Jerod must face the terrorists in or die trying. Leave No Child Behind is a possible and convincing story of vulnerability, threat, uncertainty and courage.

A tightly written action packed thriller, Leave No Child Behind keeps your attention from beginning to end. The characters are very realistic and the plot's pace is absolutely perfect.

In a recent interview, the authors said, " Leave No Child Behind is an exciting thriller about a terrorist takeover of a rural high school and one teacher's heroic stand against the intruders. It is a novel that pits an "everyday" high school teacher and her volunteer partner against a small cell of ruthless international terrorists in a setting readers will find quite familiar, and yet newly terrifying at the same time. The novel transports readers not only to the classrooms and lunchroom of a typical American high school but also inside the Al Quaida training camps in Afghanistan as well as the situation room at the White House. In this novel readers meet and come to know, and even understand, heroes and cowards, villains and victims, politicians and government servants."

Leave No Child Behind is captivating and the storyline moves swiftly along. A Must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great tale of a heroic teacher, September 16, 2010
This review is from: Leave No Child Behind (Paperback)
This is a great read. The setting of suburban Ohio with modern and present day concerns gives it a fresh appeal. The story of an everyday teacher becoming heroic in the face of danger has the story flowing from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for Fans of "edge of your seat" fiction, September 2, 2010
This review is from: Leave No Child Behind (Paperback)
I don't usually read books from this genre but since I am a teacher, it caught my eye. Not only is it a page turner but it feels authentic - like being right there inside that school with those teachers and students. Well written - looking forward to Dr. Overbeck's next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great First Book by New Author, September 2, 2010
This review is from: Leave No Child Behind (Paperback)
I love reading books of all genres, and I noticed this book (love the cover art!) by R. Overbeck and thought I'd give it a try.

I was very surprised by how good this book was, especially since it was by a new author. It was a very engaging read. I hope that Dr. Overbeck will continue writing, and I look forward to reading his next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A suspenseful thriller!, August 2, 2010
This review is from: Leave No Child Behind (Paperback)
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat until you have read the last word. I never lost interest and could not put the book down. In case you are wondering, this book has nothing to do with "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001."
