Editorial Reviews

This is the first studio album by these post rock icons in nearly three years, touted as ''striking'' by Pop Matters. Recorded by Jeff Lewis at The Compound Studio, mixed by Patrick Murphy, and mastered at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA by Evren Goknar (30 Seconds To Mars, Megadeth, Iggy Pop). It's the bands most visceral material to date, and as the music aficionados at Consequence of Sound said ''BoS have set themselves apart as a powerhouse in the post rock scene with Leaves/Scars...''

4.0 out of 5 stars A great InstruMETAL album. January 24, 2013
Format:Audio CD
I'm not sure if Beware of Safety is working on the same level as a Russian Circles, but their music is incredibly well constructed and doesn't sound like the rest of the "post-rock/post-metal" crowd. Like their previous albums, Leaves/Scars covers a huge range of sounds, from the heavy to the subtle and minimalistic. It's all interesting and expertly composed. Personally, I think a lot of this genre blends together, but if you want something that stands out as more than atmospheric background mucic, Leaves/Scars fits the bill. This doesn't surpass the best albums from Russian Circles, but it's still beautiful, heavy, and it's always interesting.
