Amazing talent with no recognition, March 16, 2001
This review is from: Leavin This Town (Audio CD)
A friend of mine introduced me to this artist by including the track "Leaving this town" on a compilation tape that she made me. I liked the song so much that I purchased the CD. I am very glad I did - it is truly outstanding. Terri Binion is a uniquely talented songwriter, who complements her inspired song-writing with well orchestrated arrangements for a wide variety of backing vocals and instruments. Her ability to draw a picture through music, and to convey it through a variety of styles - country, R and B, blues, should place her at the top of her profession. Unfortunately, the music business tends to go more for Shania Twain types, which is too bad. A talent like this should not be overlooked or neglected. I keep looking for her next CD, and when it comes out, I will get it immediately. Buy this - you won't regret it.

Talent! Talent! Talent!, June 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Leavin This Town (Audio CD)
Terri Binion is one of the most underrated singer songwriters in the biz. She is amazing! Her songs are strong and powerful. They cut straight through the bull and hit the heart. They are lyrical and moving. If you like Country-Eastern you will love her. Nanci Griffith should watch out because as wonderful as she is, Terri Binion is on her tail. I've seen people who didn't like country, sit up and pay attention when I put on Terri. Ditto for folk. She walks in that hazy inbetween area shared by Nanci, the Indigo Girls, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Lyle Lovett. This CD should be standard issue in all collections.

Intelligent Lyrics+Expressive Voice=Must-Have Album, August 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Leavin This Town (Audio CD)
I'm not the greatest country music fan, but after hearing Terri Binion perform "Locomotive" on a CD anthology that came with my copy of the "Oxford American Southern Literary" magazine, I was starving for more. "Leavin' This Town" left me fat and happy. Intelligent lyrics, expert musicianship and Binion's appropriately expressive voice--country, soulful, sultry, playful--hit the mark dead on. Don't miss this album! And for Pete's sake tell a friend! In a just world, talent this exceptional would never, ever appear below Brittany Spears on the hit list. Favorite Songs: "Locomotive", "Abilene", "Going to Texas".
