4.0 out of 5 stars PRETTY GOOD EFFORT!, January 24, 2002

This review is from: Leaving Here Walking (Audio CD)
This is 56 year old Burns' debut CD. When released in 1999 it was chosen as Blues Album of the Year by the National Association of Independent Record Distributors and what a fine effort it is. Firmly rooted in traditional blues, Burns treats us to 14 mostly original tunes that feature some nice guitar work and infectious vocals. A worthwhile addition to any blues collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent return to music by a Chicago veteran!, March 19, 2006

This review is from: Leaving Here Walking (Audio CD)
This cd marks the return of Jimmy Burns to the Chicago music scene. In the early 60's Jimmy recorded a string of r&b/soul singles, but his return to music is through the blues. Burns has roots in the Mississippi Delta and Chicago's West Side and it shows. Man does it show! This is one of my favorite cds and absolutely one of my favorite performers.
