My favorite ambient album.,

I've been a long time fan of ambient electronic music and this I still hold as my favorite. There isn't a bad track on the album. If I had to rate any track lower on the whole thing, it'd be the first two, meaning, as the album progresses it does continually get better. Making this something to be absorbed as a whole album, not just a single song, as I believe all ambient albums should be.The music itself, I personally hold that solar fields is one of the best synthesized instrument creators, or sound engineers. Every instrument is very unique, not a single synthesized instrument on here could you recognize or pull any likeness to any other artist. All the instruments used and all the noises used have a great amount of depth and originality to them. You can tell just as much care was put into designing the instruments and the noises to be unique, as there is care in the melodies that the instruments play. And the actual melodies and song flow are also top notch. Typically I find ambient albums are far too ambient, they never build up, they never take any turns, they never throw in anything very different. But this does go through a wide range of emotions and feelings, does build up, drop some awesome peaks, then slow back down, finish off, nothing is left feeling unsatisfied. While keeping a flow throughout the entire album. However, the reason I most like this album is because solar fields is the only ambient artist that creates soundscapes that can easily be described as floating through space, orbiting around the sun as a planet, maybe soaring above a series of suns to resemble a solar field. The name solar fields does matches the feel of the music very well. This isn't a tromp through the jungle or tribal music, this isn't sitting in a buddhist or hindu temple (although there is an eastern feel in some songs). This isn't on the side of majestic mountains. This isn't the overview of the city. This isn't apocalptyic. The feeling of this music is, as the album title would imply, you've left the earth and your off floating in space, exploring, alone, but as blissful and amazed as you could ever be. In my opinion, no other ambient artist manages to pull this off as well, this album gets you floating in space, and keeps you out there the entire time. With the exception of Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers, that one is just as spacey.

I enjoy all similar ambient/electronic music, this one is THE best -- most balanced, engaging, lively, intriguing, beautiful, all at the same time. My only wish is they offer CD version so the best sound quality can be available.Highly recommended.

Melodic journey that one remembers...,

Although this album probably falls within the genre of modern psychedelic music, i think that it is not limited to just that. Equally, as i keep listening to many modern "psychedlic" artists i realize how they really don't belong to any one genre - they use very specific modes of expression through sound, a palette which in itself doesn't have to be categorized.. as the end result is a work, a muriel of sound that stands on its own.So it is with this album by Solar Fields...With an absolutely original palette, Solar Fields is able to recreate a whole range of emotions - some of them may be long-forgotten and some of them new altogether..What is interesting is that the media of electionic sounds, especially of this caliber is so inorganic to the normal human ear that even one "bleep" in the silence is enough to make you sit there and wonder about "what does it all mean" for the rest of the day....There is many "bleeps" like that on this album. So i think i will, with clear conscience recommend it to a current listener, especially if she feels sort of stuck about what to listen to next after a Madonna album, a shopping/sex spree or something else that's rather vacuous. |
