5.0 out of 5 stars Simply unforgetable
When I first saw the movie I was struck equally by the storyline and the beautiful score. The soundtrack evokes so much feeling I can hardly stop listening. Beautiful. Innovative use of jazz styles.Sting more than does justice to these standards.

3.0 out of 5 stars What Happened
The soundtrack for Leaving Las Vegas was very good, Mike Figgis is an excellent conducter of the boozy feel of moments better left without lyrics. 3.0 out of 5 stars What Happened, February 7, 2000
This review is from: Leaving Las Vegas: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The soundtrack for Leaving Las Vegas was very good, Mike Figgis is an excellent conducter of the boozy feel of moments better left without lyrics. However, I cannot in good conscience give the soundtrack a higher rating, as the absence of the Michael McDonald version of "Lonely Teardrops", used twice in the film to great effect, is not available anywhere, I presume, as I've been unable to track it down. WHY? This song is incredible, and well worth the price of admission. Sting and Don Henley not withstanding, they both are very good, but the absence of Mike on the soundtrack is a Major letdown....if anyone knows how to get a copy of the "Lonely Teardrops" version on this movie please let me know...Buk218@aol.com

If you're looking for Michael MacDonald's "Lonely Teardrops," it' ain't on here. Buy "Live At The Beacon." It's on there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Graet Soundtrack, but Mike Figgis BLEW IT...., January 31, 2000

This is one of the better soundtracks of a rather great movie, with only one problem. The most powerful song of the movie, "Lonely Teardrops", re-made by Michael McDonald, is somehow missing from the soundtrack... Not only is this the most powerful song in the movie, but it is the most memorable. This leaves one to ask how it could have been left out of the soundtrack, and why Mike Figgis BLEW IT...

5.0 out of 5 stars a soft, beautiful, well-balanced, high musicality creation, February 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Leaving Las Vegas: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I've always thought of Sting more as a popsinger than a jazzmusician, but here he has really proved himself. His sensitive, sad voice combined with a simple back-ground setting creates a warm, genuine feeling. Most of the tunes are old jazz standards. Bringing them in to this modern, urban love story is a brilliant project. It goes perfectly well with the depraved city of Las Vegas and its gloomy asphalt world. The small glimpses of authentic dialoges from the picture are colored with a soft string composition, or a lone saxophone, which really brings back the memory of Ben and Sera. By the end of the final track you're left with the same blue, yet happy, feeling as the movie is built on. And the extra bonus is that special feeling you get from the knowledge that you've been listening to some really fine musicians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing like the movie, October 14, 1999
This review is from: Leaving Las Vegas: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Hey, if you've seen the movie, you should have loved it. It's very deep. So, as you heard this CD, you're watching it again. The music's great. Mike Figgis is almost a super hero, he composes, plays, directs & writes excellent. Not to mention Sting's songs. One word: extraordinary!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great to listen to on a rainy day when your in love, March 2, 1999

A serious yet beautifully produced soundtrack that brings out a variety of emotions in the listener. Once you see the movie, the music becomes a painful reminder of the plot-yet, you can't stop listening.

2.0 out of 5 stars Movie dialog ruins this jazz album, August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Leaving Las Vegas: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I sought out this CD because it contains a couple of songs by Sting not available on any of Sting's CDs.

The remaining album cuts are jazz instrumentals. It would have been a fine CD except some person must have decided it would cute to add movie dialog to the intros of must of the cuts.

It's not a pleasant experience.
