5.0 out of 5 stars Charming couple in mixed up life situations, March 27, 2002
This review is from: Leaving Patrick (Hardcover)
I found this story charming because the people seemed real-life with a situation in their marriage which was bound to elicit adventures and a chance to learn from the results. She, Jane, was bored with her husband's expectations of marriage; i.e.to have children and not be so high-powered career minded while he runs his posh restaurant. She leaves him and takes a trip to India with her staid, commonsense type sister in law. Of course Jane finds romance which does not translate well to the life she is committed to in London where she returns with Rajiv. Mean-while Patrick gets drawn into an affair with a beautiful, flighty restaurant reviewer-critic. He nearly drowns in debt with her extravagant spending and insistance on his starting an upbeat, highly popular type restaurant...love never fulfills his and Jane's expectations with these two exotic creatures and by a twist of fate they find their way back to each other; both now wanting the same kind of life. A genre of R. Pilcher easy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow going at first but then it took off~, January 27, 2002
This review is from: Leaving Patrick (Hardcover)
It's probably me, but it was a little slow moving in the beginning, but after a few chapters things started heating up.

This is a book about a Professional couple at a crossroads in their life and marriage. Patrick, the husband and Restauranteur, wants the country life with children running around. While Jane, his wife, and the protaganist, is a newly accepted Law Partner hoping to become one of England's top Lawyers, and doesn't feel the clock ticking on the child thing. So therein lies the rub.

Jane upon turning 36 takes a trip to India to sort out her life, finds a lover, and does some soul searching. While Patrick stays behind and finds a lover of his own. The rest is up to you to find out!

This book was written in England and I found the British slang to be quite an enjoyable change of pace.
