5.0 out of 5 stars This is the most breathtaking book about Lebanon, December 29, 1999

This review is from: Lebanon: A Journey of Beauty (Hardcover)
I have read this book and looked at the pictures for so long that I feel as though I have been to Lebanon. It not only shows some of the beautiful cedar trees and sights, but also the everyday lives of people and the food (the best thing in Lebanon). I highly recomend purchasing this book for a family member, friend, or even a gift to yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dedication of the Youth, May 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lebanon: A Journey of Beauty (Hardcover)
Forward by: Nasser M. Safieddine Advisor to the Ministry of Tourism Director General National Council for Tourism in Lebanon

I have been touched by the apparent dedication of the youth that expanded untold energy toward this book, and took great care with the details. This pictorial aptly reflects the many moods of our country's landscapes, as seen by the eye of Samer Al Jamal's true loving sense. It seems perhaps ironic that the man with the vision for this book had left our country at the budding age of one month, never to truly completely return. Ibrahim Musa had never had never know the glorious times, yet, he loved his country completely... enough to want to give something back. We Lebanese have been renown for a staunch nationalism, and our love for a country. I stand pleased that our children would carry through this love as this book proves so well. Is it possible that energies such as these exhibited by our youth constitute the greatest wealth Lebanon ever needed? The labor of love of many such youths using their talents might just be the only way for Lebanon to shine again.

Samer Al Jamal has an innate ability to capture a moment in time, and hold it still in the form of a photograph. From his home in Beirut, Samer traveled to all corners of Lebanon recording history and beauty, and as he found, the journey was endless. Day after day, Samer carried his lenses, and headed out to a welcoming land. His motivation was simply the brilliant landscapes, the rivers, and villages that kept inviting him back.

Clemence Musa left Lebanon in 1970 for the United States, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She later became a freelance writer for the State of Bahrain. Having written several small pieces about Lebanon, Clemence soon realized that her style cried of a certain homesickness. It is this style that sets Clemence in a category of magical writers.

5.0 out of 5 stars When God Created Lebanon.... May 1999., May 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lebanon: A Journey of Beauty (Hardcover)
On the seventh day God rested and slept. In a dream he saw what was missing, a place absolute artistry which would be haven for him and those who appreciated the mysteries. He woke up early the next morning and proceeded to toy with his artistic ideas. And there was Lebanon. A symphony, written early at the dawn of time, carved by a lover-God a gift to all the lovers who would populate this earth. The Authors

Lebanon, always remembered for its deadly civil war, hostage crisis, israeli conflict, refugees ... I always thought of it as a desert, camals, no technology, no history ... This book changed it all ... Now I want to go there the first time I have a chance ... These pictures are from heaven ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Is It Switzerland of the East or Heaven on Earth! May 1999, May 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lebanon: A Journey of Beauty (Hardcover)
Lebanon, despite all the wars, the invaders and the occupiers remains a place for meditation, worship, sports activities and the busiest social hangout in the area. Born in Lebanon, myself and having been away since the beginning of the last war - 25 years-, I thought this country will never return to what it was before as Switzerland or Paris of the East. Well I am proven wrong since this book shows me how the Lebanese people never loose hope and how fast they have rebuilt their country to transform it into Heaven on Earth. This book is a must for all people curious about Lebanon.
