From School Library Journal
Gr 7-12-- This detailed portrayal of the life of Walesa gives glimpses into his private world as well as a chronological history of the Solidarity movement. Black-and-white photographs of events enhance the text and give it some of the urgency of a daily newspaper. Readers will find a bibliography for further reading and a complete index. Material is current, with a discussion of the Lenin Shipyard strike of May, 1988. Social studies students will need to update the material with newspapers from the past year, but the book should interface well with recent journalism as it is written in a contemporary, appealing style. --Dorothy J.
