This review is from: Lectures On Modern Idealism (Paperback)
Bieser's German Idealism, Volume VII of Copleston's History of Philosophy, Baird's Hegel and Rockmore's Before & After Hegel - all are good. However, none so much so as Royce's Lectures on Modern Idealism. His is the best of the bunch. What sets it apart is his no-nonsense treatment of the self as the sin qua non of German idealism. He never takes his eye off the prize tracing the ever-increasing sophistication of the concept from Kant to Hegel. Buy it. You won't be sorry.
