5.0 out of 5 stars Early lady cop drama from the true pioneer, November 10, 2006
This review is from: The ledger (Paperback)
An excellent read. The late Ms. Uhnak's style is tough and gritty with the female protag here as a police detective. I can see where she broke new ground for Grafton, Cornwell, and the others who followed. I interviewed her a year before she died. A real classy lady and fabulous writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like the book better than the resulting T.V. show, February 3, 2012

This review is from: Ledger (Paperback)
This book was adapted into the television show "Get Christy Love!", which I remember enjoying at the time. It doesn't hold up as well as I had hoped, but the book still seems fairly fresh in comparison.

I think the idea of someone whose memory is so good that they can be used as a "human ledger" has some qualities that some other police procedural might want to work into an episode or two. I know that there's a series (Unforgettable)where the protagonist has that sort of memory: I'm looking for an antagonist to have that sort of gift, too. It doesn't need to be on the same show, although the potential for a really interesting battle of wits presents itself.
